Pregnant after LLETZ procedure

Hi ladies. Looking for some advice. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and have just received a letter saying I've got a consultant appointment, wasn't sure why so called them and they said it was due to a LLETZ procedure in 2019 to remove abnormal cells from my cervix. I am now scared as been googling that there's a link between having LLETZ and having complications with labour, possible early labour etc. Just looking for success stories really? I will be 16w at my app, what will they do? Will they check to see if my cervix is ok and up to the job? I'm so scared Confused

I wouldn't worry, it sounds like they're on top of managing the risks. They will want to give you regular extra ultrasounds (vaginal) to measure the length of the cervix and make sure it's lengthening and stable. I have just finished a round of these visits for the same reason and found them really helpful and reassuring. If they find any problems they can give you a stitch to help support your cervix and I think there are some medication options as well. This seems to be more of a problem when it's not caught, rather than when it's monitored! Good luck x

Haven't been through this myself but came here to echo what PP has said. You should be absolutely fine, but depending on how many abnormal cells were removed, it could have shortened the length on your cervix which might mean that it opens sooner than it's supposed to. All this means is they can "staple" or "stitch" down there when you're a bit further along if they need to. It's really great that they are on top of this and like PP said, it's only a problem if it's noticed later on but sounds like they're aware and monitoring it already. Congrats and good luck with your pregnancy :)

Thank you both for your replies. Definitely made me feel better to think of it as a good thing they're monitoring it early rather than just waiting and something bad happening. I don't remember being told how many cells or how much cervix was removed so I guess they'll just have to check to see how it looks. Thanks ladies Smile
