Please share your positive induction stories, I’ve read a lot of negative experiences on here and I’m being induced on Monday so would like to hear some good ones to calm the nerves!

I was induced with my first as I was 2 weeks 1 day overdue (currently pregnant with no2) and it was fine, very text book apparently. I was given gel I think at 11am and contractions started at 7pm and by 1.30am I was ready to push and DD was born at 3am. I don't have a "natural starting" labour to compare it with but it was what I imagined normal labour to be.

Don't worry, you will be fine!!!

DD2 planned induction at 37weeks due to complications in my pregnancy. Had depositary inserted about 2pm, felt period like uncomfortable pains throughout the evening night / midwives checked etc said nothing happen and to get some sleep. Woke up at 5.50am with pains, midwife said she'll check me so I quickly went for a wee before she came back to the bed and waters broke by 6 within minutes I needed to push! My daughter was born 45 minutes later. Unfortunately my husband missed the whole thing as he was at home with DD1 waiting for a call.
However my experiences was good overall.

Pessary inserted at about 10/11pm, was 3cm dilated by 7.30am but couldn’t feel any contractions, waters broken at 8.30am and had a baby by 11.30am! Very quick (maybe a bit too quick) so no time for any gas & air.
It was my second baby though so I guess my body sort of knew what it was doing.
Good luck!

I had 4 inductions.

2 took 3 pessaries and ARM to get into labour.

3 I had epidurals for

I delivered unassisted with all of them and once labour was established they were fairly quick.

My advice would be to use a tens machine, didn't think it was helping much until the batteries ran out!

Ny 3rd was induced. Had pessary at 9pm. Period cramps for a few hours. From 1st proper contraction to baby in arm was 1hr. Nearly had him in the hallway. No tears or interventions. It did mean I could only have gas and air for pain relief though. Overall a good experience. Pretty similar to my spontaneous labour.

My induction wasn't textbook and did end in an emcs but I still view it as a positive experience! You may only need a slight helping hand and then things progress like a spontaneous labour would. There's a chance that things won't go entirely to plan but that doesn't mean it will be an awful and negative experience, it may just be different than you imagined. I think it's just really important to advocate for yourself and try and stay in control. Know what you really don't want and if things are heading down a path you don't like then say something and discuss options.

I was induced for my first because my waters broke but then labour didn’t progress. Like other posters, a positive experience overall. Intense and difficult but I imagine that is the case most births.
The most useful bit of it for you, I think, is that because you’re induced they need to hook you up to monitoring which means you are more bed bound. When I expressed my sadness about this and said that I was hoping to move around more, they offered me wireless monitoring, which was much better. It meant that for a lot of it I was able to walk around the room and change positions. It might be worth asking for that if that would help you.
Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly for you and the new baby.
