23 weeks movements

Hi all,

So I have done a few threads on movements now because I'm just so concerned about it, I'm a first time mum and currently 23 weeks and 4 days, felt baby flutters and what I think is kicking earlier this morning and tiny little flutters through the day, but when I sit down and try and concentrate (which I have just done) I can't feel him! I haven't got any pattern of movements at the moment, but movement is something I'm worried about, I know he is still little but did anyone else experience the same thing?
Thanks all :) x

Hi OP, I'm a FTM at 19 weeks and haven't felt anything yet so can't offer any advice sorry but just wanted to give you a bump. x

I’m 22+6 (second baby) and he’s rolling around and can feel his pokes from outside now too. I have an anterior placenta which can make it less noticeable.

Drink a fizzy drink, eat something, lie on your side and be still. But this early they don’t really do a lot about movement unless you’re super worried give them a call.

Thanks both! Smile

I think 23 weeks is still very early to get a pattern, but you should be feeling baby throughout the day.

A Midwife actually told me that if you're concerned about movements, you shouldn't be drinking something fizzy / eating sweets to stimulate baby, you need to be feeling movements without this.

Hi!

Thank you for your comment, definitely feeling him throughout the day, but when I go up and lie down and try and concentrate on movements, he doesn't move, it's when I'm sat on a chair working and not concentrating on movements that he then moves!
I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm a little further along to feel a pattern :)
Thank you Smile

He won’t be moving all the time so it’s perfectly normal to have times you can’t feel him :) their central nervous system develops more around 24 weeks that means they have sleep/wake cycles that are more consistent.

Where is your placenta?
