I’m only just 14 weeks but have secondary school aged children.

I can book now as I’m 39. When is everyone having the vaccine?

@mamababy1955555 @girlmama3 @sillybry. Thanks for your comments. I should say I'm not a vaccine expert and I think the cautious approach is good, as essentially vaccines given to healthy people. And I feel they have been cautious by waiting until now to recommend it, as now the risks of covid in pregnancy have become more apparent and 90K of pregnant women have had the pfizer and moderna vaccine in the US, so a good amount safety data. I'm also quite a worrier about things, so I have thought long and hard about it, and feel what I said above is a fair view, and I have waited until 14 weeks (partly because I couldn't get an appointment, but the Royal college of midwives also suggest waiting for second trimester). So overall I'm extremely happy to be getting it for myself and my baby next week

Thanks @Flutterby8 @BurningBenches that’s really helpful. I agree about being unsure, but as I’m also due coming up to winter, I feel I will be happier knowing I have some protection when accessing health services etc. It’s good to hear that so many pregnant women are getting vaccinated.

It's such a difficult decision because none of us want to put our unborn babies at risk. It's so very emotive.
There is a (mainly US based) facebook group of pregnant and breastfeeding mums that I've joined, which shows lots of anecdotal evidence of babies being born and thriving.
I spoke to a Dr friend of mine, who lied about breastfeeding to get her jab as soon as she was offered it as a keyworker as her husband is extremely vulnerable. Even she said there was no right or wrong answer - and had to be weighed up on a case by case basis, based on risk factors, case numbers etc.

I work in veterinary diagnostics and my company have been hugely influential in providing Covid testing in their home state in the US, so Iike to think of myself as pro-vaccine and makes evidence based decisions. But the decision on whether to have it or not is still weighing on my mind. I am absolutely prepared to be persuaded - and the idea of passing on anti bodies to my baby does an awful lot to persuade me.
I need to watch the Pregnant then Screwed Webinar - I think that will really help me!

I spoke to a gynaecologist who told me to wait til the 2nd trimester. Good to know that's also advice from the royal college of midwives, thanks @Katy4321. Only a week and a half to go, and I made my booking earlier today. The system does, as of today, ask whether you're pregnant.

At least, it does if you're over 40 (I am). Maybe if you're under it doesn't bother because you won't get AZ anyway??

There's been a US study of those who had it fairly late in pregnancy, and they found antibodies in the (perfectly healthy) babies. All good stuff. I can't wait.

I'm not eligible yet, but I'm 26 weeks pregnant. I'll be getting it as soon as I can, the risks of covid in late pregnancy are scary. I'm worried about lockdown lifting before I'm vaccinated.

If there are any vaccine side effects, I'd much rather deal with them before there's a newborn to care for.

Not been called yet, think I’m the next group.
I’ve decided against having it until baby is here. I had covid back in Nov so hoping I have some immunity to it, also not due until end Sept so figure by then my kids won’t be at nursery when I’m at ‘high risk’ stage and will of had it by the time they are back.

Also I would rather isolate for a few months and have the anxiety of trying to not catch it, then the ongoing anxiety of wondering if any issues with baby after it’s born having had vaccine. All a personal and tough choice which you need to consider based on own circumstances, but I agree with previous posts that rules have changed too much for me to consider it.

I’ll book as soon as baby is here though!

I’ll be having mine at 30+6 weeks this coming Sunday. It’s been a rough couple of weeks trying to decide what to do but am looking forward now to getting it done!

I had both of my Pfizer jabs at the start of January, during very early pregnancy before I even knew I was pregnant yet. Everything is going well and I'm really happy to be vaccinated for me and my baby.

Girlmama3 · 14/05/2021 11:52

I’ve just changed mine to next Friday. I’ll be 15 weeks. The Indian variant worries me.

Had my pfizer as soon as it was offered (yesterday, 26 weeks). Am beyond grateful to be offered it. The thought of long covid with a newborn and a toddler is too much.
