9 weeks pregnant and constantly hungry!

Hi all,

I need some advice please. I am currently almost 9 weeks pregnant but I am just so hungry all of the time. I wake up painfully hungry and even after I eat during the day, nothing helps. Is there anything I can do or eat that will make me feel a bit more full? I don't want to pile on the weight but last night I was snacking on fried bread which seemed to help!!

Thanks in advance

I was the same but it was worse at night I brought slim fast drinks/ bars for waking up in the night and first thing in the morning. Which really helped me at those times. Other than that just snacked on fruit and veg sticks between meals.

@Luckyonetwo thank you - I'll look into something similar to have through the night and will just have to start buying more fruit and veg! Snacking on oranges like they're going out of fashion Confused

I always get super hungry/sick early in pregnancy and it goes away in a couple weeks! And I always have that fear that I'll put on tons of weight but it doesn't happen, always evens out and at my booking appt I've never actually gained any weight despite feeling like I've constantly been eating carbs.

So I would not stress about it x

@loves2plan this was me in my first trimester - I'm 28 weeks now. My hunger tailed off at around 12 weeks, but occasionally in the last few weeks I've had days where I've felt very hungry. In my first trimester I had to keep snacks by the bed as I would wake up in the night so hungry I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep unless I ate. I've put on 1 stone 4 so far which is fine for my weight/height etc. For me I decided the best thing to do was to just go with what my body was telling me and eat accordingly. Big breakfasts help, things like porridge which takes some time to digest. Lots of protein too as this will keep you fuller for longer, and low GI carbs such as wholemeal bread and pasta should help regulate your blood sugar x

Your body makes a human being with the only input being food! And some sperm Grin
Eat when you feel hungry, your body is asking for food.

@loves2plan and cashews too now I think of it.. always had something in my handGrin.
I just found the drinks easy at night because I hated getting out of bed and although I was hungry I couldn’t stomach the thought of actually eating so I just took them up with me when I went to bed. Really did find it helped.Smile

I'm 19 weeks and the constant hunger has just set in over the last couple of weeks. I had this last time too from second trimester onwards but last time I lost a lot of weight from HG initially so I never worried about weight gain. Although I've had really bad sickness again this time I never lost any weight so I'm a bit concerned about this like you. I've put on about 4kg already. Definitely need to try and eat things that are less calorific and try and eat things that will keep me fuller for longer. I want to be mindful of my sugar intake too as my blood sugars have all been borderline so far and were borderline in my first pregnancy and I'm at higher risk of GD due to my ethnicity.

This was me! I’m now 12 weeks and it’s eased a bit. The only remedy I found was to keep eating... I did also drink milk whenever I woke in the night hungry.
