Broken tooth

I've had a mild tooth pain for the last week and just now my tooth crumbled and I lost probably about half of it. I am very scared of dentist but will definitely book an appointment tomorrow. My question is can I ask for anaesthetic and can they refuse? My dentist is not the friendliest person so I would like to know in advance what I can and can't have. I can't imagine I would let him drill or something without pain relief first 😣😣 I'm mortified 😩😭
Btw I'm 16 weeks pregnant. Thanks!

I'm fairly certain in previous pregnancies I was told they wont do any work while your pregnant so they just stick a temporary filling on until you've given birth.

They can do essential work during pregnancy and yes they can use local anesthetic if needed.
Book in with them and they'll be able to arrange a pregnancy friendly treatment plan.

Should be fine - I had an extraction with local anaesthetic 2 weeks ago at 18 weeks!

They disappointed me as expected. They told me to buy some temporary dressing at the pharmacy and will see me in 2 weeks as they are short staffed due to ... you guessed it! COVID!!!
I said I'm in pain and pregnant and was advised paracetamol. I can't take paracetamol for two weeks straight, can I? 😓 I tried two more dental practices in town and they don't take new NHS patients due to ... COVID! 😡😡😡😡😡

Try calling 111. Explain that you are in pain and your regular dentist will not see you for 2 weeks. They may be able to get you in with an emergency dentist.
Your dentist are out of order not giving you emergency care sooner.

I had tooth pain recently and went to the dentist - I was 18 weeks pregnant. She told me they would prefer not to extract it while pregnant and would temporarily fill it (which thankfully has worked and I'm no longer in pain).
But if that didn't work and I was still in alot of pain they would extract.
As advised phone 111 and get a emergency dentist appointment, they definitely should of done more than send you away to dress it yourself and leave you in pain .

I ended up paying privately as have recently moved and nowhere is taking new NHS patients. Even the wait for an 'emergency' was over a month! I paid around £30 for consultation and £100 for extraction - worth every penny so could be an option if you can afford it

That’s terrible what if it gets infected?! I’d call back and ask for something. They are able to give anaesthetic they just prefer not too.
