Can anyone tell where the placenta is here (10+5)?

*Reposting, as accidentally forgot to crop the photos.

I’m just going down an anxiety spiral and wondering if there’s anyway to tell where the placenta is from this picture? I know it’s foolish to ask on a social media forum, but on the other hand there do seem to be a lot of very well informed/ educated women on here! So thought I’d give it a whirl.

I can’t but I do know the placenta can continue to move which is why it’s usually logged from 20 weeks with a follow up scan if necessary.

Bizawit · 10/05/2021 18:36

Oh that’s interesting I didn’t know it could move..

It should say on your scan report

Kinsters · 11/05/2021 01:12

I would guess that it's behind the baby especially from the last picture. I'm not sure I'm looking at the right thing though. With my daughter it was super obvious at 8 weeks (there was a big lump behind her which I think was the placenta). But everything flattened out from 10 weeks.

gulliblestravels · 11/05/2021 01:18

doesn’t it say placenta low on that scan?

Bizawit · 11/05/2021 04:01

Thanks for responding. @Kinsters when you say “behind the baby” do you mean at the bottom or the right of the picture?

@gulliblestravels no it says “frq low”.

@rbetty it’s an early scan so i don’t think they report it..

What's worrying you?

Kinsters · 11/05/2021 04:42

I just had an early scan and my Dr said this circled bit was the placenta if I've remembered correctly. So maybe it's actually the white bit in front that kind of wraps around? At this stage it really doesn't matter op. Even if it's covering the cervix it is extremely likely to move.

I don't think they really report it unless you have a private scan as it doesn't make any difference and nothing about where the placenta sits should cause you any anxiety or worry so try to relax.

If you were asking because of ramzi therory it is honestly just a myth. People report it being "correct for them" because the odds are 50/50

These first few months are a concoction of nerves, fear, excitement and anticipation but try to just relax and enjoy the journey 🥰

Congratulations on your pregnancy

Thanks all. @Kinsters @ThatsNotMyReindeer @alltheeights I’m worried because at the scan they noticed I had a small blood clot (I think the black crescent bit on the right?) The dr said it was nothing to worry about and I didn’t really know what it was at the time. But the on my report it mentions that I have a “small subchorionic heamatoma on the posteria uterine wall”. I then googled this 🤦🏼‍♀️ And it does not sound good at all. Apparently how dangerous it is depends on where it is in relation to the placenta 😨. I didn’t know this at the time so didn’t think to ask where the placenta was- hence now trying to work it out.. I have a midwife appointment later today so I guess I will try to ask them then.

@kinsters do you think it could be the top left then? Where the baby is facing? How far along are you?

Aww bless you, non of that was mentioned in the original post and I think you read my post like I was judging which I really wasn't (I have been there too!) small subchorionic heamatomas are quite common and usually causes bleeding/spotting as you say it's usually a black spot kind of thing that looks a bit like a pocket. They are not usually cause for too much concern but show the report to your midwife and they may decide to do another follow up scan to make sure it is healing nicely. I had a bleed at week 11 and by my 12 week scan at 12+4 it had near on completely healed x

@alltheeights aww thanks so much for your reply 😍 really makes me feel better.

Don’t worry, I didn’t read your response as judgemental, I just thought I’d clarify as people were saying it will move / doesn’t matter etc. I’d never heard of the ramzi theory before! Fascinating. Although doesn’t sound very accurate 😅. I’ll talk to the midwife today and see what she says. Will also take the scan pics incase she can help explain what is what.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience , so glad to hear it all worked out fine 🥰. Pregnancy is so scary!!
