Hi,
I am 18wks pregnant and i have always had a niggly feeling on my lower left side. Since baby is growing it is becoming more noticeable. Its not a bad pain, more so just annoying. I have pcos and was wondering if it could be related to that or if my womb is just pressing on something? I spoke to my midwife who advised me to see gp but no appts so have to ring back tomorrow. Has anyone else had anything similar?

Hoping its just general pains from things stretching!

Hi, I'm also 8 weeks and having the same thing but on my lower left side. Its similar to period cramps but it just started last night during the night, it was bad enough to keep me awake for a couple hours but its eased off this morning.

18 weeks that should say

I've had it off and on all the way through - I'm 18 weeks today. Initially I was worried I was having an ectopic pregnancy (I wasn't), and then since then I've just chalked it up to usual strains and pains. I have recently started getting SPD and PGP as well! Ugh.

This might sound a bit weird but I find the pain worse if I haven't had a bowel movement in a couple of days. It's taken me until now to notice, though. Have you noticed similar?

My rule is unless I feel like I would want to take painkillers for something, and unless it's accompanied by spotting, bleeding or anything else that just seems wrong, it's probably 'normal pregnancy pains'.

If you do get a chance to speak to a midwife would you mind letting me know what she makes of it?

Wishing you best of luck!

If it's niggly rather than 'painful', and you have no other symptoms (that might suggest something else, like UTI), I'd probably wait until your anomaly scan and mention it, especially since it isn't a new pain but something that's been going on for a while. The sonographer can look to see if there's anything structural that might be causing it?

If you do have other symptoms, hopefully the GP can advise :)

Can't see how it would be related to PCOS I must admit. As far as I know, PCOS doesn't cause your ovaries to swell up or do anything weird like that? Happy to be corrected though!

Just to update, I phoned my maternity hospital and she talked me through some questions on the phone (asked about location, bleeding, trouble with bowels/passing urine). She wasn't too concerned but she said to contact them again if I had any other symptoms.

She said to monitor it myself for now but if the cramps are still there tomorrow to go to the GP and have my urine dipped in case its a UTI.
