Tips for relieving back pain at 16 weeks?

Hello,

Nearly 17 weeks and struggling with lower back back pain (have been for a few weeks now). At first I was slightly concerned but now I’m understanding it’s possibly everything moving (although the concern will always be there). Has anyone else dealt with this and have any tips? Thanks!

Hot water bottle...bath....gentle stretching. Maybe find a prenatal Yoga class.

Thank you @FortunesFave will try a bath tonight, haven’t been for one since I’ve been pregnant and will look for prenatal yoga. X

I just wanted to say that I’ve found moving around lots help, and a hot water bottle! In case anyone else is struggling.

Yes definitely some yoga stretches like downward dog and child's pose, this is coming from someone who used to despise yoga but now I do 30 mins at least every 2-3 days and it does keep back pain at bay! My pain is more mid-back though and just one side. Also don't sit in the same chair or sofa for too long.

If you’re finding it bothers you while sleeping put a big pillow/cushion between your legs or at least knees as it helps align things better. I used to wake up with bad lower back pain but elevating my top leg has helped loads. I’ve got a huge cushion that stretches the length of my legs.

Go for a deep tissue massage, always helps mine more than anything else I can do myself.

Thanks for all the tips! Just thought I’d ask, those who are getting back ache or got back ache - did it come and go? As in worse one day and better the next. Thanks.

Definitely comes and goes. Even during the day too- evenings and night times seem to be the worst for me.

Go to your GP and get referred to a physio - worked wonders for me

mabelelsie · 13/05/2021 13:14

Thanks @Luckyelephant1 yes I can get back at night time. Mind tends to go for a few days and then be bad for a day or two.

I’ve got an appointment to see midwife on Monday so will enquire then about physio or relief.
