Not felt baby at all today!

I’m 23 weeks pregnant today and the last few days I’ve felt baby making some big kicks and movements but today I don’t think I’ve felt anything.
I know it can be quite easy to miss them still at this point but just worried as felt she was getting so strong.
I do have an anterior placenta if that helps!

Call your maternity triage. Better to be safe. They'd want you to call, even for reassurance.

srah21 · 07/05/2021 21:28

Go and get it checked or at least give the midwives a call.

Puntastic · 07/05/2021 21:29

Look at your maternity notes- there'll be a page saying what to do if movements change.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/05/2021 21:30

Count the Kicks starts around 28 weeks, but I think that's because some people dont feel any til then.

You should always contact your Maternity Asessment Unit if your babies regular movements change.

Give them a call now. Just for peace of mind if nothing else.

Hiya,
I'm 24 weeks.. I don't have an anterior placenta however the other morning I called the hospital as I got up and ready as per usual at 5:30 am and by the time I'd got to work etc I still hadn't felt my baby move! i called the midwives at the hospital and they advised to leave it an hour or so, relax and put my feet up, and if I still hadn't felt anything give them a call back.
I did, an hour later as I still didn't feel anything. They asked me to go in so I made the journey over there where they checked by BP, pulse etc. Time comes to check the baby and as they put the Doppler on me, baby very forcefully kicked or punched it away 😂😂 the midwife laughed and said "she definitely moved then!!"
I said omg I'm so sorry I feel silly for wasting your time etc. She reassured me and said there's no such thing, if anything is different to your baby's normal routine then always ALWAYS ring up to check or go down to the unit. It can be a sign that something is wrong. I'm sure 9/10 times there isn't anything wrong, but these midwives really do not mind checking!
Anyway hope my post reassures you that if you're concerned, you're never wasting anyone's time.
Hope you're both okay Smile

Thanks guys, luckily I’m at the hospital in the morning for my whooping cough vaccine so will speak to the midwife there and then, as you say it’s better to be safe! X

Don't leave it until tomorrow. It may well be nothing but it's better to ring now if you've still not felt usual movement.

eloiseislost · 07/05/2021 21:43

@bq2020 The NHS advice VERY clearly states NOT to wait until the next day. Please call now.

CanIBeACurlyGirl · 07/05/2021 21:46

Please don’t wait till the morning. Have a big glass of ice cold water whilst on hold calling the maternity unit.

idontlikealdi · 07/05/2021 21:50

I'd call them now and I'm not a panicked, could be nothing could be something. Hi

Tee20x · 07/05/2021 21:50

Like PP have said try a glass of cold water. I was also told a sweet drink & baths always worked for me.

I would say though even if these things work - still contact the triage unit. My midwife said something along the lines that while these methods may cause the baby to move its best to get checked to make sure everything is well!

Why wait?
Mysa74 · 07/05/2021 22:04

Phone op another 12 hours on top of all day is a long time and you were obviously concerned enough to ask us...
At the very least get yourself a big glass of cold water and a mars bar to see if you can wake baby up a bit, then phone. Better safe than sorry xxx

tillthecowscomehome · 07/05/2021 22:23

I was really worried about calling in but I'm so glad I did. The midwives were brilliant and monitored baby for an hour. Of course he moved as soon as the monitor was (!!) on but they still took their time to check the movements were regular and his heartbeat was ok.

It's really important to check which I'd why they do say to call ASAP.

PurpleRainDancer · 07/05/2021 22:28

Please don’t wait until tomorrow, ring now OP. Wishing you and your baby all the best.

bq2020 · 08/05/2021 11:53

Just a quick update for you all... spoke to the midwife as advised and she listened in and all is absolutely fine. Baby is just lying very low in my pelvis. Had some movements again today now typical lol x

This advice is wrong Cold drinks / sugar might make a pooorly baby more active temporarily and give falsie reassurance the same with home dopplers it’s not going to give the full picture Go to be checked at the Hospital where they have the proper equipment to check and interpret Good luck xx

Glad all was okay. I’m nearly 27 weeks but had the same thing a few weeks ago. He did eventually start kicking again. When I’ve been busy all day I don’t feel him at all but always notice it either in the bath or when I get into bed. I think he moved about 23 weeks and his kicks feel like they’re further away feeling. You can’t see them on the outside the same. I drink something cold and have sugar if I want to see if he’ll move now

Kittykat93 · 08/05/2021 15:18

Glad everything's okay but for the future if you dont feel the baby moving all day you really shouldn't wait until the next day to seek reassurance, that's too long to wait if something actually was wrong with the baby
