Reduced movement but HR is okay

Hi,

I'm 25 weeks, had quite a bad v&d bug Monday-Wednesday and have only been able to eat a little today.

It really took it out of me, throughout the sickness the baby was sooooo active. More than usual if anything.

Fast forward to now, he has moved 5 times since 8am and they haven't been massive movements, quite light and low. Not like him.

I've been in contact with my midwife since I got sick, she done a check with the Doppler and said that his heart rate is within the normal threshold, but he still hasn't moved.

I've had a few spoons of ice cream. I can't bare the thought of a fizzy drink and I've had plenty of water. She checked my blood pressure which was abit low but nothing to cause any concern.

She said they don't perform ultrasounds for lack of movements until 26 weeks.

I'm going to try a bath, see if I can get him wriggling.

But what do I do? Do I just wait? It's really not like him, he's such an active baby. Does anyone have any advice or been in a similar position? I'm hoping he's just resting. It was nice to know his HR is okay but why is he so still Sad

Ring your MAU they’ll get you in to monitor.
Whilst his heart rate is great his routine has changed so important to get checked.

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 06/05/2021 18:24

@Astronaut8 I'll contact them now

They said all they would is the same as what the midwife has done as I'm not 26 weeks. They told me to have a cold drink and go for a walk and see how things go Hmm

I'm 26 weeks and baby still has some quieter days and then other days I'll feel so many movements! Sometimes they're strong and I can see my belly move, and other times I can only really feel them with my hand on my belly (I do have an anterior placenta though). So I think they can still move into positions where movements are less noticeable.
I hope he gives you some big kicks soon to put your mind at rest. It may be once you've settled down, after your bath, that he kicks up a fuss!

Hey, I am 25wks also and there are days where I don't feel the baby as much and other days when the baby seems to be non stop. Can't offer any advice medically but may give you some reassurance 🙂

It's probably fine OP but if you're worried then call them again.

They said have a drink and see how you go so call them if you're still not satisfied.

Astronaut8 · 06/05/2021 20:15

I didn’t know 26 weeks was a thing?
I was at my unit at 20.

Have a fizzy drink, lay on your side.
As pp he could just be being chilled but you can never be too careful in regards to movements.
I’d be ringing back

Lou98 · 06/05/2021 20:22

My MAU is the same OP, all they will do before 26 weeks is listen to the heartbeat to make sure it's okay. They won't put anyone on the monitor until after that point.

It is really worrying but please try not to panic, at 25 weeks they're still so tiny that they are probably moving about loads in there but because they have so much space still, you're not always feeling it.
Try having an ice cold glass of water and lie down to feel for movements - hopefully your LO will give you some big kicks to reassure you.

If that doesn't work, give them a call back and say you're still worried - although they may just bring you in to listen to the heartbeat again

Yummymummy2020 · 06/05/2021 20:36

I would be wary too, sometimes I have quieter days than others also and get a bit nervous but I’m 36 weeks now and so far all is good. Apparently an ice cold fizzy drink is one of the best things to get them moving but I know you said you can’t bare to have one, it might be worth just downing one fast anyway for the peace of mind?

Hi all, I got so paranoid I had a midnight bath and that ended up getting him moving!! This morning he seems to be back into his normal rhythm.

Must've been really tired after a long few days of me being sick poor boy must've needed a rest. Gave me quite the scare but I've never been more grateful to be booted left right and centre all night Grin

Thanks so much for the replies xx

@AhaShakeHeartbreak12 that's brilliant, glad he's back to moving normally!
It's scary when they just suddenly go quiet and you did the right thing phoning! ❤️
