8 weeks and feeling low

I’m 8 weeks plus 2 and the nausea has suddenly hit. I’ve been sick every morning this week and whatever I do I feel rough. I’ve changed to taking the folic acid in the evening and drink water and eat a cracker when I get up. I find every day getting though work is a battle and at the end of the day I just collapse. I’m also anxious about something going wrong and last night had a nightmare about the baby being born blind. I know I’m being irrational but it’s just hard. It doesn’t help that my booking appointment is not until almost 11 weeks and I feel alone with only my husband knowing.

Hi @French2020, I am 9weeks+3 today and last week has been the hardest. I have nausea 24/7 and I am sometimes sick, yesterday just after taking the vitamins :( it does feel very hard at the moment and not be able to share with friends yet it is not easy, I just told my bestfriend so I know I can complain with her without stressing my partner too much!! I have my appointment next week but I know only the scan will ease a bit the anxiety... and I will then be able to tell more people! hang in there :) I am trying to be optimistic and hopefully we are close to the end of the worst trimester!!! Xx

Hi!

I was the same so you have my full sympathy. Weeks 6-10 were awful, and I suffered with awful headaches and Migraines, I literally survived on toast and mash as I couldn’t stomach anything else.

I’m 14 weeks now and this past week I have felt much better, I am still not 100% and I feel tired but the complete exhaustion has passed and I can eat a bit more now. I really hope you get the same boost in the 2nd trimester, and if not just be easy on yourself - it’s tough right now. Sending lots of love x

Thank you both, I appreciate it. Yes, hoping by 12 weeks things will seem better. I’m toying with the idea of just telling my sister who has a baby for some support but I’m unsure. Wishing you health and all the best x

Hi OP,
I hope you start to feel better soon.
I have had constant nausea since 4 weeks, now 9 + 5, so I completely sympathise. Take things as easy as you can and get loads of rest.
I think telling your sister for support is a great idea, there is no rule that you can’t tell people before 12 weeks. I think it can be fine to tell anyone you would seek support from in the unlikely event of bad news - just speaking generally here, I understand it’s a nerve racking wait!
