Acne and treatment during pregnancy

Hi all,

Just looking to see if any mamas have used Azealic acid during their pregnancies. Everywhere says it is safe however, of course I'm scared and skeptical to begin using. (9 weeks pregnant)

I am really trying to just leave my new found pregnancy acne alone because I am scared to treat it and harm my baby. But, my skin is just so inflamed and sore with tiny pimples.

How safe do you think it is from your own experiences/research? Or, can you recommend another treatment that you used and is considered safe? Or, did you just let your pregnancy acne heal overtime and deal with it?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I’ve always sued Azelaic and never had a problem. It’s steroids like Tretinoin that you should be careful of suing in pregnancy and that’s due to not enough research I believe.
Good luck and congratulations.

I've been using it for 12 weeks now and haven't had any issues. Obviously baby isn't born yet but I'm not concerned about it harming baby. The doctors wouldn't prescribe it unless it was safe x

Thanks for your responses x

I'll have a chat with my doctor and get on it, I used it years ago to get rid of my hormonal acne after coming off the pill. So I know it's good stuff.

I used to use Tretinoin before falling pregnant but I've been using azelaic acid since and my skin has been fine.

I'm in shock as acne was one of my main worries of getting pregnant and my skin has been pretty much clear all the way through so far.
