Pelvic pain only in bed

For the past few weeks I’ve only been able to get 4 - 6 hours of broken sleep a night due to pain that seems to start in my joints at the inside of the very tops of my legs / below my hips and radiate down my thighs. I try to sleep on my side but have to swap sides every hour or so to try and get some relief before it becomes too unbearable and I give up. I’ve tried sleeping sitting up but just can’t fall back to sleep like that. I have big maternity pillows, knee pillows etc

I’ve read about PGP but I only get pain when I’m in bed lying on either side, as soon as I get out of bed I don’t get the pain at all through the day, could this be the start of PGP?

Afraid it sounds like it, speak to your midwife and ask to be referred to physio ASAP so you can begin exercises (pelvic tilt etc) and follow their tips to hopefully stop it getting any worse, they may also send a tubi-grip support or recommend a bump support band (I got mine online).

I’m 36 weeks now and walk with crutches, sleep on the sofa and it’s agony all the time. Midwife said the only other option is seeing the GP for stronger pain relief but having researched I don’t like the side effects for baby. Xx

@Oakie0 I've been getting this on and off since about 16 weeks and am now 27 weeks. It has got worse as time's gone on, but I never get it in the day, just at night, so you may not suffer in the day time. This is what I understand it to be: www.royalberkshire.nhs.uk/patient-information-leaflets/maternity-physio-hip-pain-in-pregnancy.htm

Sorry to hear you’re both suffering so much @ER20 & @MintGreenLife

Thank you for the information and links, they are really helpful. I have a doctors appointment to discuss this so hopefully can find out what it is asap and prevent it from getting worse.

@Oakie0 If I'm honest I kind of just assumed it was a normal pregnancy thing as this is my first, and have just been putting up with it. Maybe I will mention to my midwife at my 28 week appointment!
