Double buggy or not

Hi! When baby number 2 arrives my first will be (pretty much exactly) 2 yo. My DH is dead set against the extra cost of a double buggy (though money isn't really an issue, more about not wasting it I think) and wants just one of those board things to go on our existing buggy (uppababy Cruz). I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a Vista cos that one adapts to be a double buggy. My point is that DH will rarely be going out with the both of them on his own, and he drives and I don't, so I'd like a double and think it will be worth it. I'd try and sell our old buggy, it's in pretty good condition.

Does anyone have an wisdom or experience on this? At the moment my son is happy walking but to get anywhere you definitely need to put him in the buggy or I end up carrying him around. I know a lot will change with him in 6 months though.

Eek I'm due my third with the exact same age gap (I'm hoping they avoid having the same birthday!) And I had just made peace with no double buggy and baby in sling then buggy board when it got bigger. But I'm wobbling now!
If you find anywhere good with bargains OP would you mind sharing?!
When is your baby due? X

I had 22 month gap and used Mountain Buggy Duet for a year. DS1 napped till he was 3.5 and we were out pretty much all day every day so it was a necessity being able to put them both down to sleep as well as general transportation.

MB Duet is side-by-side but fits through single doorways and on all buses. We bought it second hand for £300 and sold it on again third hand for £150 so excellent value

Hi OP.

I agree with all the advice to go for a double buggy. My gap between #1 and #2 was 2 years, and I was adamant I don't need a double buggy. I invested in a good buggy board with a seat and that was that- but toddler had other plans! He would jump off the buggy board in the middle of crossing the street, in the shops- it was a right old pain, although he was delighted to come and go as he pleased.
After a couple of weeks of this nonsense, I bought a second hand baby jogger city mini double. To be honest I didn't find it particularly easy to push, but it did the job of containing my toddler!
When DS3 came along, my #2 was only 19 months and I knew a decent double buggy was essential. I had given away the BJ when I stopped using it, as I wasn't enthralled with it anyway.
I did lots of research, and shortlisted between the Mountain Buggy duet and My Child Easy Twin. Like you I live in London, we share a car with DH using it mostly, and use buses a lot. I wanted a narrow side by side and these 2 fit the bill.
I ended up with the My Child Easy Twin- and I absolutely adore it! Its superbly easy to push, really comfortable for both kids, has a huge basket, is lightweight, easy to fold, has big hoods and looks decent too. I'd recommend it in a flash. It takes up as much space as a single buggy on a bus so I never even took up all the buggy space! Although had to get on the back doors. The reason I went with this rather than the Mountain Buggy is because the wheels don't need pumping. I consulted with my local independent nursery store and went with their advice. Never regretted it!
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks @Ava50x that is really brilliant advice! Definitely needs to be on the thinner side as our hallway isn't wide at all. I'll look up that one!

@Ava50x can I just ask with that buggy, did you put the baby in from new born? Did you have the carry cot part? Thank you
