Anyone use Cheeky Wipes?

Hi everyone, I’m going to buy the cloth wipes set from cheeky wipes while they have 25% off! But I’m just wondering a few things of anyone has answers from personal experience?

Does the mucky box smell?
Is 25 wipes enough or should I also buy extra?
How often do you do a wash for the mucky wipes?

Thanks Grin

I've used them all the way through (DS is 15 months now) and they're great. I got two packs - one microfibre and one more flannel like but don't really notice the difference. When he started weaning we kept some aside for hands and face which work great too.

The mucky box doesn't really smell - it comes with some essential oils to use in the water which helps although I've run out of the mucky one and not replaced. I have replaced the one for clean wipes as I did find them getting a bit musty when I didn't use the official box. The mucky box is a better design now with the pop through hole rather than having to open the whole lid, as we found it hard keeping them in the wash bag in the box but I think if you prepare it right with the new style you won't have that issue.

They wash and keep really well though, and I got a pack for my best friend when she was expecting as I really do think they're great - much better for cleaning than any of the disposables we tried, although I didn't get on with the out and about bag as it was musty and leaked, so do use disposables in his nappy bag for going out

I used cheeky wipes for bums and still for faces. The microfibre ones we use for hands are great. The cotton ones aren't as good as the nappy lady ones but they're fine.

Mucky box didn't really use for mucky poo ones as I just shoved it all in the nappy bucket with the nappies.
25 is plenty if you're washing every other day as they go a lot further than disposable wipes. Also no need to dry them each time you can use straight from the washing machine if necessary.
I washed the nappies and wipes every 2/3 days.

They’re great. I’ve used them since DD was newborn and still use them now as flannels. Along with popper reusable nappies, I’ve saved a fortune in these early years. Buy them and you won’t regret it at all!

LolaSmiles · 02/05/2021 21:06

They're nice, but other brands do nicer, softer wipes in my opinion.

I don't use boxes and use wet bags instead but they don't smell.

DisgruntledPelican · 02/05/2021 21:08

Big fan of cheekywipes, although I’ve stopped keeping a clean wet box now because I ran out of essential oil for it and never bought any more.

I washed the mucky box every couple of days, in a load with reusable nappies and towels. Never any smells.

I can’t remember how it works for the kids, but the white flannel ones are doing a fab job as my face wipes 5 years later.

I bought loads, so there’s enough for the kids when they’re older too. I tried ‘proper’ size reusable makeup pads, but found them too small.

Cheeky wipes are nice but expensive. Lots of others available and imo the boxes and oils aren’t necessary.
I made my own cloth wipes out of some old towels when dc was tiny and they are still going strong at 2.5 and I’ll be using the same for the next baby.
I just have a flask and bowl by the change table and wet as i need them, no need for plastic pots then. For our and about I have a tiny wet bag so can take them out pre wetted or I just take a water bottle and use that.

Nesski · 02/05/2021 21:16

@LolaSmiles any recommendations? I feel cheeky wipes are too expensive!

LolaSmiles · 02/05/2021 21:21

Totsbots, Close Pop In, Baba and Boo and Muslinz all do nice ones.
I can't remember how they compare to Cheeky Wipes in terms of cost because mine have been on the go for ages. I find they wash better though and stay softer. They've become my go to wipes for everything: snack time, wiping faces, wiping hands, instead of tissues for runny noses, removing my makeup, they were worth the money.

Another option that I've known some people do is buy lighter weight baby towels and cut them up into squares. Some people overlock the edges for a neat finish, but that's purely cosmetic.

I love cheeky wipes! So much better than disposable wipes. Haven't tried other brands though. Started using them when baby was one month old but wish I'd started sooner.

No smells, 25 wipes are a good amount, and I wash them approx twice a week.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 02/05/2021 21:27

We used them 11 years ago for my DD and then bought more when DS was born. We loved them, although didn't take them out and about, i wasn't convinced about the bag, although this might have improved now. I got rid of our last few in LD1.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 02/05/2021 23:56

My best baby buy ever. Used them right through with DS who's now 8 and I've just set up a brand new set ready for DS2 due soon.

MrsH497 · 03/05/2021 07:45

Love our cheeky wipes have the microfibre multi coloured ones for hands and face as well. No smells in the mucky box. Big fan! Once you start using them you realise how rubbish disposable wipes are

MagpieSong · 03/05/2021 07:49

We do and love them! We use cotton for nappy areas and bamboo for hands/faces etc.

MyFloorIsLava · 03/05/2021 07:52

Typed long post and lost it.
They're brilliant. Clean far better than disposables. DH was horrified one day when we forgot the nappy bag and he had to clean DD with some disposables bought in an emergency, haha. Used mine on bums for two children, still use them on faces and hands. Had a wet bag for nappies and the clean and mucky bags when we went out, no smell. Big fan.

ChillyB · 03/05/2021 07:58

Reusable wipes are brilliant!
We got multicoloured for bums and white for hands/faces. Still use the face ones now he’s potty trained.
The cotton are good for grip and we used a bamboo wipe to dry off they are much softer.
The changing mat is really good too.
We used a wet bag system as others have mentioned above. The boxes aren’t really necessary just wet a wipe as it you need it!
