Hey,

So i should be about 6 weeks but after an early scan they put me back to about 4. I've been having terrible sickness for the last week.

I had sickness all the way through with DS but it didn't start till 7 weeks. I feel awful and don't even know how i'm going to cope for the next 35+ weeks.

What did you find helps with your sickness?

Thank youSmile

In all honesty nothing really took it away (I was sick the whole way through too) but eating little and often instead of big meals, sipping water throughout the day and sticking to plainer foods seemed to ease it slightly atleast.

You have my sympathy here and I hope it passes soon, oh - and congratulations Grin

Giving birth. Grin

I found sipping lime and soda, grazing on salt and vinegar crisps, and fizzy cola bottles all helped.

Wabe · 01/05/2021 07:31

Nothing, really, but having plain flavour Hula Hoops continually on the go kept it at manageable levels. People kept giving me ginger things, but just made me throw up in ginger flavour.

EssentialHummus · 01/05/2021 07:32

Gah. Ice water, mint sweets / gum.

fassnk · 01/05/2021 07:35

Friend of mine had terrible sickness, she found slices of crunchy green sour apples helped. Random but might be worth a try!

cliffdiver · 01/05/2021 07:35

I ate a rich tea biscuit lying down in bed before I got up each morning.

AntennaReborn · 01/05/2021 07:36

Ginger tea really helped me, and eating simple carbs like pasta, bread, potatoes, etc

And, oddly enough, sausage buns which I can't explain because they're so greasy 🤷🏽‍♀️

Going to the GP and getting cyclizine.
Don't be a matyr, its completely safe

The only time I didn’t feel sick was when I was actually in the process of eating, so I just ate all the time. I didn’t eat healthily. People say it’s about survival in the first tri and it is! For me it was crumpets, plenty of toast, with butter and marmite, potato waffles, crisps, jacket potatoes, some cereals. Sip plenty of water. I found if I was stressed, rushed around, particularly tired or even a bit empty-bellied that was it - awful. I also wore seabands, and tried ginger sweets and B6. I don’t know that stuff really helped tbh, but made me feel a bit less powerless.

I’m 17 weeks now. It got better around week 14, then I had a little return of vomiting in week 15, now I’m ok unless I’m hungry. When I was in the midst of the nausea I felt like I couldn’t cope - and what if it never ended?! But for most it does get much better so hold onto that until you know otherwise. If you’re really struggling speak with your doctor or GP - they can offer you support, things from acupuncture through to medication. Wishing you lots of luck, it’s horrible!

TomatoSoup69 · 01/05/2021 08:07

Oh and if you can get your partner to bring you toast or cereal while you’re still lying down in the mornings. I tried the no fuss ‘eat dry cheerios or crackers’ thing but quickly those things made me sick to even think about...

caringcarer · 01/05/2021 08:55

Ginger helped me. A couple of ginger biscuits before I got up from bed and weak tea.

StevieNix · 01/05/2021 09:16

Ice, ice lollies, plain hula hoops, plain Pringles, sprite/7up, watermelon, McDonald’s cheeseburger. Grin

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 01/05/2021 09:50

Ice, ice lollies, Ribena, crisps, plenty of sleep.

I used motion sickness wrist bands. They seemed to take the edge off a bit. Not sure if it was just the placebo effect but definitely made some difference. They're cheap to buy online.

Welshmumma92 · 01/05/2021 11:48

Ice cold water, salt and vinegar crisps, starburst sweets and McDonalds hash browns.

FrancesFlute · 01/05/2021 12:27

I've got the sickness bands. It doesn't stop it but I wear them constantly in case it's worse if I take them off!
I'm 9 weeks and it's been all about the plain carbs - plain cereal, toast, tonnes of crisps, green apples, flapjack (not sweet), berries and water.
If I have a couple of hours feeling ok then I will eat something sweet as I feel like the biscuits are staring at me!

Lorw · 01/05/2021 12:50

Little and often is helping me, I’m 6 weeks and it’s just starting. Can’t eat big meals and I’m off pretty much everything 😂

AnxiousWeirdo · 01/05/2021 13:04

I'd look into HG, it sounds like you might be suffering from that. If that's the case then not much will help so just take the medication, it doesn't always work (didn't for me) but if it does then it'll be a game changer. If you struggle keeping fluids down, tinned fruit juice or syrup or coke is a good start but again it depends on a case by case. Good luck op

DinosaurDiana · 01/05/2021 13:05

Sipping freezing cold Diet Coke. Mine stopped around 12 weeks.

LostBlanket · 01/05/2021 13:23

Ice cold full fat coke which helped me burp to get rid of the nausea a little (recommended by my doctor) , sea band helped a little to take the edge off and little light meals regularly instead of a large. Every smell made me sick. My DH's voice made me sick and even certain colours made me sick. I was prescribed ondansetron after my second trimester as I was losing a lot of weight and fluid which was a life saver for me but that came with a catch, which was that I couldn't go for a No 2 for 2 weeks nearly.

Soubriquet · 01/05/2021 13:25

For me it was polos and flat lemonade

I would suck on the polos nearly all day and they helped ease it

But I had hypermesis and did end up on tablets. I still had the nausea though and these helped

AegonT · 01/05/2021 13:28

Medication and not getting hungry.
