Hi! Please try not to worry. Many many women have been in the same boat as you and it is likely that everything is fine! Now you know can stop. 💜

SeaTurtles92 · 01/05/2021 06:29

Congratulations.

Try not to worry. I'm sure baby is doing well.

My mum found out she was pregnant at 6 months with my little sister. She's 23 now Grin.

Try not to worry. Lots of women either a) find out late or b) don't care and subsequently drink in pregnancy. Most babies are fine and in any case, you can't turn back the clock so no point in worrying excessively x

Feral Alcohol Syndrome is generally caused by persistent alcohol abuse during pregnancy. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. I hope you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and look forward to meeting your little one

Fetal* bloody autocorrect

You'll be grand, congratulations Flowers

WWYD2020 · 01/05/2021 10:32

That’s odd; you wrote a thread in February saying you’d only just found out you were pregnant at 6/7 weeks and had been drinking.

Now you’re only finding out at 5 months, with dates matching?

@WWYD2020 Good spot.

So the OP has carried on drinking and had an attack of conscience??

Oooooooh
WWYD2020 · 01/05/2021 10:39

Certainly could be that @zippityzip either way I think that piece of info has been left out on purpose to get naice responses.

zippityzip · 01/05/2021 11:25

@WWYD2020 And she's gone.....

WWYD2020 · 01/05/2021 11:39

To have a cider 🙊

Find the responses to this really interesting. If OP didn't know she was pregnant, her drinking almost certainly did not harm, but once we know she did know - suddenly her behaviour is really harmful. Can't help but feel if we were less moralistic about this kind of thing as a society it would be easier for someone like OP to be honest about her struggle to stop drinking and easier for her to get the help and support she needs to stop.

Where has anyone suddenly said it's harmful after WWYD's spot?Confused
Violetbeau · 01/05/2021 20:18

@HumunaHey to be fair you're right, no-one has explicitly said that. It's more the implication that knowing vs not knowing changes everything.

WWYD2020 · 01/05/2021 21:10

Is the help not available if you’re pregnant Violet? I would have imagined it to be a priority when the midwives asked the questions on how many units a week the person drinks.

I don’t know if you saw the thread where lots drink alcohol whilst pregnant; it’s not unusual.

The reassurances seem to have stopped though?
