Advice on giving birth

Hello,
I’m really hoping someone can help me with their own experiences. I had my first child a year ago and after a 30 hour labour it ended in forceps and a pph. Obviously I want to avoid this in my next labour. The consultant has given me a choice of a csection. Has anyone had a planned csection after a similar birth and if so would they choose this option again knowing what they know now ? Or has anyone had a vaginal delivery after a similar experience and did they find it more positive? Would really appreciate any help at all :)

Both my labours were very different. One fairly traumatic for me and one super easy and relaxed. So I think every labour will be very different so hopefully the 2nd for you would be easier x

@XDee56 with my first I was so close to having an assisted delivery also, the doctor came in with forceps etc as baby was getting distressed. Somehow at the last min it all worked out and intervention wasn’t needed, I did tear. Second vaginal birth went smooth, again I tore.

I have no experience with c-section sorry can’t help you with that but go with what you are most at ease and comfortable with x

I had an emergency c-section as opposed to planned, so whilst the surrounding circumstances were quite traumatic, and actual c-section itself wasn't. I did need a blood transfusion afterwards, but my scar healed quickly and is barely noticeable. Recovery is difficult for a couple of days as it's hard to get out of bed to get to baby (particularly when you're home and don't have a remote control hospital bed to help!) but good painkillers and keeping moving help massively.

If I were lucky enough to have another baby I wouldn't hesitate to opt for a planned c-section if it were offered.

I had 3 good VB's then breech twins so an ELCS. The recovery from ELCS was no worse than my VB's, no pain relief needed despite my wound getting infected and I felt pretty well in myself the day after surgery (just very tired). I have the option to go either way this time, hoping to go VBAC but would be happy to go CS if it's better for baby.

I had an emergency c section but found it all very positive, first 3-5 days you're sore and slow but after that I was out on short walks and needing less and less help. 3 weeks in it honestly doesn't feel like ive had surgery and can move about with ease. Will 100% be opting for an elective c section if we have another

I had forceps and pph with my first (pph was trauma related). Took quite a few weeks to recover as I bruised all the way up to my hips. Left with a bit of a bowel prolapse. Honestly, recovery was horrific. I needed codeine for the pain for close to a week. Had a bad uti from the catheters... awful.

Gave birth to second four weeks ago tomorrow. Had a second degree tear that causes me no real issue now. No forceps needed. Active labour was super fast and I was pushing for no more than 10 mins (hence the tear). Bruised my tailbone a bit but I was honestly fine. Driving dd to nursery 5 days after (her first day back), no pain meds within two/three days. All in all, it's been a smooth recovery!!

I had a very similar first birth to you op, lost over two litres due to a 3rd degree tear!
So yes I opted for a c section! The section was a breeze on the day and a much easier recovery compared to my first birth! So yes 1000 times over I'd go for a section over my first birth! Smile

Not personal experience but from friends it seems more common for the second birth to go smoother.

My first birth was very traumatic and felt extremely nervous for my second however it was a completely different experience ( vaginal birth ) it was a lot quicker and went smoothly.
