Hi all,
Found out I'm pregnant two days ago (think I am between 4-5 weeks) and it is my first pregnancy so not sure what I need to do now. Can someone advise me on what the next steps should be. Do I call the GP now or wait a while longer?

If you have definitely missed your period then the next Thing would be to call your GP

Congrats😊

Hi @pearlsandpetals, I was about 4 weeks when I found out and called GP next day. My appointment isn't until next week when I should be around 7 weeks and it's over the phone. I know from a few posts on here it's different depending on where you stay and a lot of places have self referrals. I would search online for your local maternity ward and it'll tell you probably where to go from there. Good luck!

Thanks. I have irregular periods so not sure when it was due but I have taken six tests over the past few days and they've all been very positive.

Congratulations!
As PP have already said, Contact your GP to get the ball rolling with midwife referral. It varies by area, but in my local hospital Trust, you are then given a midwife 'booking' appointment around 7/8 weeks where they ask you loads of questions about any previous pregnancies, yours and DPs health and medical history (done via phone during covid) then a face to face for bloods and blood pressure. Shortly after that recieved a date for dating scan which is at around 12 weeks. After that scan, self book a 16 week appointment with the midwife and then there's the anomaly scan which is at around 20 weeks.

In my local area the GP doesn't do anything just advises you to self refer to the midwife led unit. So it's worth asking the GP receptionist what the process is for your area. Saves you having to make a GP appointment to be told oh well you just need to self refer. :)

Once I'd self referred they gave me a date for my booking in appt with the midwife (which was at 8 weeks for me)

Early pregnancy is quite hands off I've found. Other than the booking in appt the next thing is the dating scan at about 12 weeks. So don't be alarmed if you don't hear anything else :)
