How do you stop the worrying and anxiety?!

Hi all,
So found out I'm pregnant two days ago. Not sure how far gone I am but I'm guessing between 4-5 weeks based on my Clearblue test result. This would be my first pregnancy and I can't stop worrying that something is going to go wrong. I'm testing every two mins to make sure they are still positive and comparing the tests, I wish I could relax more! How do I stop this?!

It's really hard as we can't just "see" that everything is ok. I would say try and stop yourself re-testing etc as even if something went wrong, you'd likely test positive anyway as the HCG will still be in your body.
I think for the first 12 weeks, you just have to try and carry on as normal... you're likely to feel a bit poorly/tired/sick at points, but just try to keep on with your hobbies, work etc. I found getting out running was great for my headspace as it stopped me thinking about it.
In all reality, if something is to go wrong, there isn't anything we can do to control or effect it, so just try and keep eating and drinking well, tick off the days and keep busy, even if it's reading or jigsaw puzzles!

In my experience, you don’t! I booked a private reassurance scan at 8 weeks (totally worth it) and also bought a heartbeat Doppler at 10 weeks, they aren’t recommended but again, totally worth it. After my 12 week scan I have relaxed but use the Doppler once a week for reassurance Smile

You’ll be fine! And congratulations on your pregnancy x

Don’t keep retesting. All it does is make the anxiety worse.
Honestly I think it’s bad advice to get a Doppler. It’s really not advised at all and most midwives won’t look for a heartbeat until at least 16 weeks. Some are even later at 24 weeks because it’s can be so hard to find a heartbeat they don’t even try because it could cause more anxiety than it’s worth. And midwives are highly trained

Eesh it's hard but I'm not sure you can. Put the tests down and repeat to yourself, 'today I am pregnant'.

If you decide to go for an early scan, I'd recommend at least 9, ideally 10 weeks as there's much more to see. I had a very early scan in my first pregnancy and the baby died after seeing a heartbeat. 9 weeks plus the odds are much more in your favour.

And absolutely do not get a Doppler.

My son is two and this morning I went in to check he was breathing because he slept past 7am 😂
I'm also already worrying about when he starts driving haha!
Welcome to parenthood, the anxiety is real.
Try to relax and enjoy it, as pp have said, stop testing and while you have no reason to think otherwise (which wont make a difference either way) just send calm, happy, loving thoughts for your healthy little bean.
I have also found an online miscarriage odds reassurer...reassuring - you can watch your odds fall daily, it might help.

People are weird about dopplers on here but I used one from 9 weeks and was easily able to find my babies heartbeat every time. My midwife said it’s also fine as long as I didn’t use the doppler for reassurance and to get checked out if I had any actual concerns. I don’t think I could of mentally survived by pregnancy without it after so many losses.
