Hip pain at night

Hi Ladies!

I am 26 weeks tomorrow and have just recently started experiencing hip pain during the night. I do have a pregnancy pillow however, I find it quite invasive as it's quite big! I was wondering whether any one has any smaller pillows they use that you could send me some website links for... Or any alternative tips for getting a comfy night sleep!

Thanks! Xx

Try and sleep with your hips, knees and feet parallel. Cushion between knees, personally I have a c shaped one from amazon about £30 does the job.
Whenever I wake in the night tend to roll onto the other side. It can be a bit hit and miss pain wise, but overall not much you can do when you can sleep on your side. Hope it helps!

Thanks @Smallbean27 for your reply Smile
It is only recently that I have started getting a bit achy (I guess because baby is getting bigger!) so I might just try again with my pillow and see how I get on. Like you say, there is only so much I can do as I personally fidget around all the time during the night!

Yeah and your ligaments are looser due to hormones. Try and keep active but not overdo it. I found if I walk too much I will have a bad night. Or try and bath before bed x

It’s probably SPD? So google things for that. Do pelvic floor exercises madly and keep your knees together eg when getting out of the car. Pillow between the knees at night as mentioned above and don’t walk too far in one go.

I bought a pregnancy pillow but I find regular pillows are more helpful for putting between my legs. Also it makes it easier to change sides. I know its said that left side is best but it's impossible to just stay in the one position all night.

Make sure you have a pillow or cushion between your knees at night, it can help to reduce the pain as it keeps your hips aligned correctly. You don't have to spend a lot on special cushions, I use a firm cushion that I bought for £5 from Asda.

Thanks for all the comments ladies!
Going to try again with my pillow tonight so here’s hoping it will help me Smile
