Subchoronic haemorrhage and no pelvic rest?

i posted about this a couple days ago, and i rang the midwife to ask about pelvic test as i've seen a lot of people go on it!! i am not bleeding: i've been told by 2 midwives now not to do anything differently? i am going to try and avoid sex anyway. the size of it was 12mm x 10mm at 13 weeks!
any other people have similar situations?? it's making me worry more being told to carry on 😂

I have a sub amniotic hematoma not SCH. Similar, but mine is in the sac with the baby. It is 60mm x 10mm x 10mm.

I have a 2 year old and 3 year old and DH works away. There is only so much resting I can do (hint, its not much). I do let DH do a lot when he's home and I absolutely no longer lift anything (was lugging chest of drawers around etc before I found out)... well other than toddlers, but I do try to minimise that.

Mine was found at 20 week scan. It was still there though had stretched out at 24 week scan. 28 week scan in 2 days. Ultimately it seems I haven't made it worse and baby is growing fine (50th centile).

I believe the evidence is that bed rest solves very few problems but can cause problems of its own. So its very very rarely recommended in the UK (though seems to be more common elsewhere).

There are also lots and lots and lots of stories where people have had SCHs in early pregnancy and gone on to have healthy full term babies (I know at least 2 personally).

I wasn't told anything with mine, I was bleeding for 3 weeks.

@Muststopeating i have a 1 year old myself! i still obvs have to pick him up and everything but i'm trying to do less! i get what u mean i had a SCH in my 1st pregnancy but it was earlier on and it did resolve on its own (although i was bleeding with him hence why i found it!) Smile

Hi, I think posted on your other one to say I was not advised bed rest after a huge bleed at 12wks at my scan.

I've just got my notes out to compare and one haematoma was 15mm and one was 11mm. They were referred to as small subchrionic haematoma.

At my 12wk scan the nhs couldn't get nuchal measurement and said my options were a quad test at 16wks or go private, I went to a private clinic the next day and bled heavily during the scan.

The Dr who scanned me at the private clinic said there was no evidence to suggest total bed rest. She cited some study in Greece, but obviously I took it easy in terms of lifting my toddler/heavy stuff.

I rang the MW unit as I was pretty worried and they said unless I was in a lot of pain or the bleeding got heavy, in which case go to a&e they would just speak to me at 16wks.

Thankfully the private Dr had me back 4 days later to reassure me.

By 20wk scan they were gone.

So yes I was told similar for 2 haematoma plus bleeding. Obviously I'm not qualified to give any medical advice but my experience was the same.

@BurningBenches that is reassuring! i guess mine is only small, i don't know why i worry so much when i had one similar with my son! it's the googling that gets me Confused confusing when they told me to carry on as normal (i assume that means sex etc too!) and then i'm reading on how dangerous it is when they don't seem concerned! Smile

I think it is really hard because it's happening to us it's hard not to worry.

I have 4 children, never had a bleed before (I have had early losses) so very lucky, but seeing so much blood and a clot, I couldn't believe any baby could survive that. But she has.

We probably avoided sex for around a month. Most of that I was still bleeding brown blood anyway.

I think you need to do whatever you need to do to feel ok. If that's resting (and if that's possible) do it. So I avoided lifting and also took a week off the school run (my older ones are old enough to wall themselves and DH was WFH so lifted the baby for me) I would absolutely have done less if it was advised to, but it wasn't and so I just did what I felt ok with.

Butterflyy20 · 27/04/2021 18:10

@BurningBenches yeah i get you!! it definitely is concerning! i'm not bleeding at the moment it was only found on the routine 12 week scan so i don't want to trigger any bleeding but at the same time why can't i have sex Confused i'm going to try and rest more anyway and hope it goes away soon! fingers crossed by my gender scan in 2 weeks! Smile

I don't have sex but then I wasn't doing that anyway because I'm so nauseous 24/7.

bbb2019 · 27/04/2021 21:34

Hey- I have one. Was 7cm at its largest then got down to 5 ish. I have been bleeding for past 10 weeks and haven’t been advised bed rest. As above they advised it doesn’t have many positive proven outcomes. I’m just trying to be sensible and not overdo it. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so praying it’s got smaller! Take care

Butterflyy20 · 28/04/2021 08:21

@bbb2019 thankyou! i'm glad yours is getting smaller and baby is okay! i think i am just going to be sensible. i am not bleeding as of yet 🤞🏽 so i think i'm going to relax a bit but life has to go on when my partner is at work unfortunately Confused hopefully yours is gone by your scan

Mine was 50x9x27mm found at the 12 week scan, same as you no bleeding or symptoms from it. I carried on as normal didn't do anything differently and it was gone at the 20 week scan x

UpAt5amAgain · 28/04/2021 11:52

I was the same with mine - I didnt get scanned by the NHS as there was no pain, just very heavy bleeding and clots. They just said if it was a MC there was nothing they could do. I was 8 weeks. Stopped bleeding about 12 weeks and baby was absolutely fine when born.

I had to arrange and pay for weekly private scans to reassure me that my baby was still alive even though I was bleeding. Was horrible. Didn't receive any medical advice whatsoever.

Butterflyy20 · 28/04/2021 14:07

@LemonRizzle that's good then! sorry for asking but did you have sex when you have this SCH?? it's the only answer i cant find anywhere! Smile

@Butterflyy20 I was in a&e as I had such a heavy bleed on Sunday. I thought it was all over. I was diagnosed with a SCH. I definitely wouldn’t even be thinking about sex as sex can cause the uterus to cramp and with a SCH it may cause it to bleed again.

LemonRizzle · 28/04/2021 14:36

@Butterflyy20 yes we did, no issues. I also carried on working and looking after my horse lifting hay and water etc, they didn't seem bothered by it at the scan so I just ignored it x

Butterflyy20 · 28/04/2021 14:38

@LemonRizzle that's really good news then! i'm hoping it's shrunk or gone down in size in 2 weeks for my gender scan! Smile
