Getting hair coloured in pregnancy- did you/would you?

Interested to know how many of you did/didn't or would/wouldn't get their hair coloured when pregnant. Stuff online is as vague as ever due to limited studies (understandable) but generally says if you do colour your hair then do it after first trimester and avoid the scalp so the dye only touches hair not skin.

For context I'm looking to get balayage (so nothing will touch scalp) and I will be 30+3 at the time of my appointment. Of course it's not essential but I've not had my hair coloured for almost 2 years now and won't have time to for months when baby comes so figure now is my chance!

3rd time pregnant and always dye my hair. Just choose ammonia free dye. 🤷‍♀️

I am a hairdresser and lots of ladies come to us when pregnant, it's better if it's highlights rather than a full colour, occasionally the hair can react differently though because of hormones so it might not take as well for example, but it doesn't happen often!! Generally very safe to get it done x

Thanks guys. The rational part of me knows it will be fine and so many people do get their hair done throughout pregnancy, but there's still the really irrational anxious part of me that is hesitant.

I got my hair dyed every couple of months throughout both of my pregnancies. The colour didn’t take as well but I was fine otherwise. Enjoy, these little things make the world of difference to how you’re feeling.

I'm 36+2 weeks now and been getting my hair done throughout, I get my full head coloured (so touches my scalp) with highlights.

I checked with my hairdresser first and she said it was safe but to get a patch test done first as your skin can become more sensitive/develop new allergies when pregnant
