Bleeding piles (sorry) - help!

Sorry in advance for the massive TMI but over the past week I've developed piles - I've had them on and off throughout the pregnancy (32 weeks currently) but this last week they've come back with a vengeance and now everything is swollen and bleeding. It is so painful I can't sit down or even sleep properly, it keeps me up most of the night. I'm using wet toilet wipes instead of tissue and slithering sudocrem on but it doesn't seem to be helping. Over the past couple of days they've started bleeding.
I would call my GP but it recently took me 3 weeks to get iron supplements out of them and don't have any appointments available - does anyone have any tips before I go insane?!?! Thanks in advance.

Slathering sudocrem, not slithering Grin

Go to a pharmacy and ask for some proper cream!
So painful 😩

You need a proper cream designed for piles! Not sudocream that won’t do anything. Ring the GP now so you can get something ASAP and in the mean time see if the pharmacy can help you - but they might not want to recommend anything without a prescription because your pregnant. Other things that really help which you can start doing now - drink lots of water! I’ve personally found I have to drink a lot more in pregnancy. Eat lots of fruit and veg - I eat at least 6 portions a day. Eat whole grains not white pasta and bread, avoid fatty foots like chips and crisps. Dried fruits help such as prunes, figs or apricots. Prune juice or pulpy orange juice are good too. Lastly (can you tell I’ve dealt with this problem for a while??), I’ve also had lactulose prescribed from the GP during pregnancy which really helps, you could mention it at the same time when you ring. You can actually get it over the counter but you might still want to check with GP since you’re pregnant. And last one - I bought a sitz bath as they help heal piles, in fact I read a study where they were more effective and healing piles than medicinal creams. You can buy one off Amazon x

Hi there! I had this recently and managed to sort it out in a week.
I used Anusol ointment with the long applicator, use loads and use it after every poo, as soon as you get up and also before bed.
Get Laxido sachets and take those everyday until it clears up - it will soften your poos and allows everything to heal.
Eat lots of fruit and veg and avoid loads of meat, sugary food and dairy for a bit.
Get your body moving. Got a walk everyday if you can and/or do some yoga.
If you do all those things then you'll be right really soon. Hope you feel better, it's bloody terrible x

Anusol suppositories plus the cream helped me. They might not be a long term solution but definitely try them while waiting for an appt. Piles are the worst, I really sympathise.

Thank you all so much - it's a trip to the pharmacy for me first thing in the morning and at this point I'll try literally anything!!

Also Epsom salts in a warm bath. Maybe 3 mug-fulls of it. Very healing and soothing - hope you feel better soon! X

I asked my midwife about this as Anusol has a pregnacy warning on the back and she said it's absolutely fine and it's what they use on the wards in hospital x

Thank you all - I'm now armed with lactulose and anusol from the pharmacist and my sitz bath and Epsom salts arrive tomorrow- ready to tackle this from all angles!
