Morning ladies,

Arrived at hospital this morning and have had my first pessary(blooming agony), the midwife said my cervix is quite soft already(which is good news) but obviously not where we want it to be.

So now just a waiting game - please cross all fingers and toes it goes quite quickly and I’m not in here for days on end 😩
Although midwife did say worst case scenario if no baby by Monday I’ll be in for a section on the Tuesday so not that long a wait I suppose.

😊

Best of luck OP! Do you know what you’re having?

MikeWhiskeyIndia · 24/04/2021 10:48

@Ellasmummyx1

Yep - girl. Well I hope it is as I’ve got used to the idea of a girl now lol! But as long as baby is healthy then the shock will wear off I’m sure!

Good luck! I was just so bored at those initial stages! Hope you have tablet or books! X

MikeWhiskeyIndia · 24/04/2021 11:02

@Amz6219 Yeah got a tablet so gonna watch some movies but to be honest I do like watching what’s going on around about(such a people watcher haha) but I get that will get boring!

Good luck op, is your partner allowed in? X

MikeWhiskeyIndia · 24/04/2021 11:34

@Dothepropeller21

My partner was allowed in till I had my first pessary but has had to leave, it’s half an hour visits per day for as long as I’m in the induction ward, as soon as I’m in the labour ward, my partner comes straight back. It’s crap but silver lining is the midwife in charge of the ward is more than happy for you to go outside for walks so can meet partner then for some walks so it’s not completely terrible but obviously would rather they were with me for the full thing.

I feel for you and hope it all happens quicker than you expect.

Why did you have to be induced?

MikeWhiskeyIndia · 24/04/2021 11:49

@Maggiesfarm

I’ve been having regular growth scans and on my second last one she was measuring exactly as she should, I was sent for one on Thursday and baby had dipped again, so they offered induction as they didn’t want to leave anything to chance.
I really didn’t want to be induced but I thought about and thought if anything happened to baby and I didn’t take doctors advice I would have never forgiven myself - I do know it’s not going to be pleasant but I guess it’s a means to an end.

Yes, you can't take risks.
Good luck! We're all rooting for you.

Dothepropeller21 · 24/04/2021 12:40

Hope everything goes well for you. Enjoy the last bit of the to yourself as silly as it sounds as I'm sure you'd love your partner to be there.
I was induced with my first and it wasn't what I'd wanted, but still the best experience ever! You've done the right thing being induced now x

RainingZen · 24/04/2021 12:44

Good luck! Do walk as much as you can, without exhausting yourself.

I went for a 3 hour walk to the local shopping centre after I had my pessary in (cervix wasn't soft and midwife was pessimistic). Anyway the walking did the trick and I gave birth next morning. Being up and moving helps a lot, if you can persuade the midwives you don't need too much monitoring. Save the iPad for later!

JustKeepSw1mming · 24/04/2021 13:01

The pessary hurts? Is that normal? Sorry for the question, it's just that I'm booked in soon and wasn't expecting that bit to be painful? Best of luck OP! Flowers

Maggiesfarm · 24/04/2021 13:08

Agree with Zen about walking. The more you can be on your feet and move around the better.

(I too didn't know the pessary was painful, JustKeepSw1mming.)

DPotter · 24/04/2021 13:15

Good luck Mike !

Keep mobile for as long as you can - let gravity help!

It's the insertion of the pessary that can hurt - things are all a bit swollen and sensitive. Once it's in - you shouldn't be able to feel it - bit like a tampon.

MikeWhiskeyIndia · 24/04/2021 15:00

Thanks ladies - just to clarify, once the pessary is in don’t feel a thing, it was just the getting it in that was agony as it don’t just go into your lady bits it’s literally shoved right up as far as it can go to your cervix. That wasn’t very pleasant but again once in it’s been fine.

Good luck op, sending cervix opening vibes 😀

Enjoy the time alone and films (and people watching). Baby snuggled aren't far away x
