Going to a farm at 18 weeks pregnant?

Hi all,

I am just wondering if it is safe to go to a farm when I am 18 weeks pregnant. I have the zoo, a normal farm and a pig farm booked with my toddler over the next few weeks and it never crossed my mind about the possible risks. Will we be ok to go? X

Yes. I live on one. The lambing shed and direct close contact with lambing sheep should be avoided. You won't be doing that so just wash your hands after and enjoy.

I think it’s only lambing ewes you need to be careful with. And even then, as long as you don’t actually handle them, and ensure good hand hygiene, you’ll be fine. When I was pregnant, I skipped a trip to lambing, but did all the usual kids farms and all was fine.

Enjoy your trips.

I am 20 weeks and went to a farm with my toddler in the holidays. I asked them when we got the tickets and they just said don’t feed the sheep or touch them and wash hands. Didn’t seem too concerned so I’m not worrying about it!

As others say, you'll be fine, enjoy yourself. Keep away from ewes and lambs and be extra hot on your hand washing but don't worry other than that.

I kept my farm animals during pregnancy and tbh the main worry I had was my cats crapping in the flower beds Confused

As other have said avoid lambing ewes - most farms are really hot on this and have signs up warning people.
Also just wash your hands after feeding/touching other animals.

You’ll be absolutely fine. As others have said, it’s lambing ewes that are the main concern and you’re unlikely to be in direct contact with them anyway.

It's fine. Just make sure you wash your hands if you touch any animals.
