have been feelign really heavey and uncomfortable for a few weeks now. It started at about 20 weeks when i went for my scan at guys hospital. the next day i felt really tender but put it down to the scanner being on my belly for wuite a while and all the pressure they put on my belly to get the pics they needed.

But now i have ligament type pains (no other way to describe it really) in my belly and pelvic area. its uncomfortable to walk, sit, sleep etc.

its my 3rd pregnancy so i guess i'm more likely to be stretching and feel it more, but oh my word, it hurts. I walked to the chemist earlier and was in pain on the way back (5min walk away). dont know if i can cope with this for another 17weeks or so.

Do you have a support belt? I can't walk without mine. Pain started around the same stage as you are at. It might be SPD rather than ligament pain - worth a google to look up symptoms. As for the belt, I have one of the Reenie support belts and I also now have one from the physiotherapist at my local hospital, which is a lot more substantial.

HTH.

Do you find you can't turn without pain in bed ? Could it be SPD - symphisis pubis dysfunction ? The pain can be anywhere around the pubis, thighs... not sure about belly itself though.
If it is SPD, a visit at a good osteopath (specialised in pregnancy - MW might be able to suggest someone) is worth its weight in gold. From experience it's more useful than a physio.

I also have terrible pain in my pelvis and back because of loose ligaments. My midwife has prescribed a giant tubie grip and told me not to lift my toddler (impossible). Does anyone have any ideas about alternative or homeopathic remedies for pain during pregnancy?

reflexology has good techniques for SPD... if you can find a therapist trained in maternity matters.

its good for back aches, sleeplessness and lots of other pregnancy related conditions.

i can turn over without feeling some degree of pain. the tops of my thighs are killing me, but thought it might be nerve pain. when i say belly, its low down, more pelvic area than belly, but its still at the front of my small bump.

did have mild spd towards end of oregnancy with dd2, started at 35 weeks and was put on codeine and paracetamol for the pain. will get a gp's appointment for this week and see what s/he recommends.

was thinking about a support belt, will also have a look at those. thank you!
