Very painful wind - help?

Hello

Embarrassing problem. I am 21 weeks pregnant and have the most terrible wind. In the first trimester it was smelly, then I had a month or so respite, and now it’s back but this time very painful - like, really, really painful. I also have had bad diarrhoea for a few days.

Any tips for how to prevent and deal with this? It is SO painful. Usually comes at night, helpfully around midnight when I’d rather be asleep...

Thanks

I think you can have windeze when pregnant. Same active ingredient as infacol. I hope you feel better soon

I had this most of my first trimester and I told my OH that if I thought going to hospital would help I would have went because I have never felt pain like it 😂 I was the opposite, I didn’t have diarrhoea. The only thing that worked for me was a hot water bottle (not too hot) and massaging my stomach x

Will try those things, thank you. Sadly windeze not available in the country I live in (India)!

After a c section the midwives tell you peppermint tea which I scoffed at as I have Crohn’s but it does seem to really help! That’s for trapped wind but now if I even have wind I do have peppermint tea. It’s also quite calming so might help diarrhoea?

Walking helps, gentle exercise and lots of water.

Peppermint tea

Peppermint helps op, capsules or peppermint tea. Ginger can also help.

The medication Simeticone is the active ingredient in windeze. I know you said that isn't available in your country but maybe you can get the same ingredient under a different brand name? In the UK it's in malox plus and imodium plus as well.

I used to drink a peppermint tea every night after dinner and then go on a fifteen minute walk - made such an enormous difference to how comfortable I was when I went to bed.

Doing cat and cow yoga pose helps get trapped wind out.

Thank you all for tips. Peppermint tea doesn’t seem to be shifting it although it does help a bit with the pain.
