High resistance Doppler - anyone had this?

I had my 34 week check yesterday and midwife referred me for a growth scan as my fundal height hasn’t increased. Baby’s growth was absolutely fine and movements are normal. However they picked up that I have some high resistance Doppler readings which basically means blood is struggling to get from the placenta to baby. They said it wasn’t very high but over 95th centile.
I now have to go back for scans twice weekly to monitor this, they are hoping yesterday was just a blip and I’ll get normal readings next time.
Has anyone had this? How did it affect your pregnancy and birth?

Hi,

I didn't have this but my sister did. She had this at 16 weeks, and told her to take aspirin to improve blood flow to the baby. They later discovered she has some kind of blood condition where her blood is somewhat "sticky" so has a hard time getting through the placenta to baby. The aspirin helped though as baby was born full term weighing 7lb 2oz. Her first was an IUGR baby induced at 37 weeks weighing just 5lbs!

Best of luck- hopefully it'll all resolve itself, sorry I can't be more useful.

I had this at 20 weeks, mine were off the chart. Was told it increases chances of a small for gestational age baby or pre eclampsia. I did get pre eclampsia, but the resistance actually improved. At my 36 week scan they were still above average but baby was actually large for dates and weighs 6 pound 8 already! I also took asprin to help with the blood flow.

Thank you both. I wonder if they’ll maybe prescribe aspirin then. Apparently I don’t have the usual side effects from this given baby’s growth is completely normal so I guess I’ll find out more over the next few weeks with my additional scans.
