Could polyp be cause of my miscarriages? do I remove polyp and try again naturally or IVF?

Im 39 - AMH low (4.8) and low folicle count. Hus sperm is fine.

Was told would prob need IVF when I got tests done with husband (before we ever started trying) just to see how likely we would be to have a child.

We tried naturally whilst having convos with docs to look into IVF and fell pregnant naturally first month we tried! i was amazed. BUT then miscarried at 5 weeks. The next month fell pregnant naturally again at 7 weeks and miscarried again.

Since then have found out I have a polyp - which could be the cause of miscarriage? getting this removed soon but unsure as to whether to embyo freeze asap and then try again naturally now that poly will be removed OR go straight in for IVF as time is an issue now (39 and low AMH) Any advice welcome!

My IVF doctor told me I had to get a polyp removed before they would do an embryo transfer because of risk of miscarriage/embryo implanting in the wrong spot.... It still took a couple rounds but I’ll be 33 weeks this week .

I would absolutely get the polyp removed. We had no luck trying and the only abnormality picked up was a small polyp (apparently located in the best place for implantation). I had it removed and got pregnant in my first full cycle clear of it!

As @WeavingWandering says - my doctor had said I’d have to have it removed before IVF in any case, so it made sense to me to prioritise getting rid of it.

Hello, I have a polyp which is coming out tomorrow. Only one cp in three years trying. We have been told we have mf infertility but the polyp has to go before IVF. The cp makes me think it's me though, despite low sperm count.

I can let you know how it goes?

Love xx

Hey there @Dinosaurus86

I hope you don't mind me asking - did you get pregnant naturally and the pregnancy was successful?

Are you in the UK? If so I'd recommend getting a consultation with Prof. Yacoub Khalaf at Guys - he's a world expert on fibroids and polyps. Even if you don't go to his clinic for IVF you can still get a short consultation and it doesn't cost loads.

No worries @Afishcalledwonder - yes, I got pregnant naturally. I’m still only early on (8+6) so a bit soon to say, but I had a scan at 8+4 where baby was doing well and measuring a few days ahead, so fingers crossed.

PS I paid privately to have it removed at the Portland by Dr Ertan Saridogan, who was very good.

@HavelockVetinari thank you for the recommendation - I am in London. Will look him up

My plan was to have it removed and try naturally for 3 months before moving onto IVF.
