SPD - 34 Weeks in Agony

I have SPD, now 34 weeks. Last few days it’s got significantly worse, perhaps as he’s moved further down in to my pelvis but I’m at the point where I’m unable to walk, cannot sleep - bed is agony, every time I stand up I nearly cry and I cannot get comfy at all.

I have a pregnancy pillow which doesn’t help what do ever, birthing ball which is more painful to sit on, a bump band which does help slightly.. at the end of my tether.

I try and keep changing positions and finding siting on a hard chair is more comfortable. Baths help, I know swimming does but feel anxious about that atm with Covid.

I’ve got a telephone physio appointment on Tuesday and will ring my midwife on Monday but any other suggestions? I’m so fed up.

So grateful to be pregnant and otherwise I have been very lucky & I’m low risk but I’m really struggling.

Try an acupressure mat. You have to lie on your back on one for at least five minutes and it may sting a little but then if you are anything like me you will get immediate relief and a range of movement back. Also try to rest as much as possible.

Private physio with experience - if you can afford it. I found the wait for nhs was very long and when the referral did come through it was an online print out and a supportive body stocking.

The private physio would manually move my pelvis back together and it was transformative.

Are you wearing a good support belt around your hips?

I'm so sorry - it's such a painful condition. (If it helps it evaporated the moment the baby arrives.)

@anniebu I’ll have a look, thankyou. ☺️

@queserra2021 I think that’s my only option, physio will only do phone appointments atm which isn’t much help.

Yeah I am thankyou.

Thankyou!

I had this badly in both pregnancies - actually it's a big reason I didn't have more children. So painful.

What helped me was a private physio who'd developed a specialism in this after having it herself. She massaged and adjusted - didn't just prescribe exercises. She also very strongly advised rest. Trying to carry on as normal not an option.

Much sympathy and good luck.

Thankyou, going to look for a private physio.

I had this at 30 weeks and paid for private physio, I'd recommend it definitely I felt so much better! Went for a 2nd physio session last Monday even though he had moved off my nerve and got a massage! Hope your feeling better

Thankyou, definitely going to look, not sure how I can do 6 more weeks of it.
