My neice, early twenties, is getting stressed about this and I am not sure what to say.

She had regular sex until the second week of feb, so that would be at least 10 weeks. She says she has felt heaviness in her tummy and has only bled once, but she isn't sure when and her periods are irregular generally.

She tested this morning at 7 am and at first it seemed very negative but then a positive line appeared - though she isn't sure when. It is a weak line.

She is ordering more tests but she is worried that if it is faint it might be a missed miscarriage as it would be darker after 10 weeks - is that right?

How likely is it that a line appeared after the alloted 10 mins (the test says it is unreliable after 10 mins)?

Ta!

Also, the faint line is blue so less likely it is evaporation line.

If she has had a missed miscarriage does she need to be checked by a doctor and if so how urgent is it?

Thanks

If it’s a blue dye test I’d say they give more evaporation lines than a red dye test. With my MMC at 10 weeks I was still having very strong positives so I’d be leaning towards saying it unlikely. I think the best advice is to just test again, if she can get a frer that would be better.

Thank you - what is a frer?

Also, I am sorry about your missed miscarriage. I had one too, and had to go to hospital for a dv at 3 months, though I only tested at the start of the pregnancy - it was confirmed by scan at 3 months but I didn't test.

Frer is a first response test which have red dye and are generally good clear tests for showing pregnancy even early on.

Sorry I meant d and c, not d and v. My miscarriages were all more than fifteen years ago, before I had dc. I only went to hospital with one, where I was 3 months along and the uterus was large, and they thought I needed medical intervention. I am not sure about the situation at @10 weeks.

Yes she needs to test again. I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks and had very strong positives even after I'd miscarried! It took about a week before the tests started to fade and another 2 weeks before I had a proper negative.

Hiya can I have everyone’s opinion on these tests please? I had a miscarriage just over a month ago. I tested after my miscarriage and I had negative results!
I know my midwife said it will b easier for me to catch after miscarriage but I’m not sure if they are evap lines or positive lines!
I have tried the pink line test too and faint line on that

I would see a doctor if you are in doubt, and get a more accurate blood test - I think that one tests hcg like pregnancy tests but there is also one which tests something else which will be more reliable - sorry brain fog tonight can't remember what it is. It could be more than one thing going on, it won't harm to see a doctor if you can.
