Take folic acid
Ring the GP, I think they will give you the self referral number to call for midwifes etc
Congratulations x

Thank you! Phoned my GP and they just gave me a link to a non-existent web address. Managed to find it now though

Congratulations 💕
Lots of info online and here.. only thing I did in the first few weeks was buy folic acid and vitamin d to take once a day. I also booked at early private scan which was lovely as my husband could come too and made it feel a bit more real!
Good luck x

Congrats! I suggest checking out the whattoexpect.com website. Good articles and you can see what is happening each week! Try not to google too much. I also got the what to expect when expecting book which was quite helpful.
Other than that, listen to your body, take a prenatal, avoid alcohol, smoking, raw foods like sushi or undercooked meats. All the best

6 months into a 'bit of a surprise' here.
A few things I've worked through:

Don't worry if it takes a while to get your head around it - especially if a bit unexpected.
It took me and OH til our 20 week scan to be excited rather than freaking out.
Be kind to yourself and the amount you wanna keep doing. Growing a human takes a lot of energy - give yourself some slack with work / socialising / exercise etc.

You've got time to get everything (speaking as someone who panic brought stuff in first trimester and now wishes I'd taken more time and enjoyed the buying of stuff).

And don't feel like you 'have to' tell people til you're ready to. Do what's best and right for you.

Huge congratulations :D

Lots of good advice here! Congratulations. Be aware that some people sail though pregnancy feeling great, and others get really sick/tired. So until you know what it will be like for you try to keep your commitments - work, social etc to the bare minimum, especially in the first trimester. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I’m not ready to tell anyone yet so it’s great to have somewhere to ask questions and feel supported ❤️ Your comments have all made me feel better

Congratulations!! Totally get how you feel.

I'm 30, first time pregnant and it was a big surprise. I'm still really early at 5.5 weeks.

Only things I've learned so far besides the obvious don't drink alcohol - is to take folic acid and take it easy! I've been wiped out by tiredness - hits me at about 2pm and I'm exhausted for the rest of the afternoon.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you :)
