Hi guys,
Need a little advice here, on Tuesday I took two diazepam before I went food shopping with the kids(anxiety is bad at the moment) I brought pregnancy test because I always do just to be on the safe side. Anyway the next morning(Wednesday) I decided to take one and it came back positive, I honestly didn’t believe it I was in totally shock, I was sure it was wrong. Anyway keep taking pregnancy test to make sure it wasn’t a dodge one and yet they all came back positive. Today I learnt that diazepam cause false positive pregnancy tests. Would Tuesday diazepam still be in my system(stupid question I know)
It’s just I suffer from PCOS, I’ve been on metformin to regulate my period. It took 3 years to fall pregnant with my youngest. I’m just doubting it all. I’m also taking multivitamins aswell, So I kind of feel like this is down to medication. Please any advice right now would help massively.

Have you done another pregnancy test to check if it’s still positive?

Njm2020 · 16/04/2021 11:56

I did one this morning and still positive 2-3 weeks but my app says 4 weeks. I’m super confused. Xx

The app will be working from last period dates and the test will be ovulation but also those weeks indicators aren’t that reliable

I have booked a phone appointment with the Doctor for today. I’m seriously freaking out. In my head I’m like this is has got to be a diazepam but I’m second guessing my self xx

where did you learn this?

Njm2020 · 16/04/2021 12:03

I googled medication that can cause false pregnancy tests and it came up with diazepam xx

How strange never heard of this before but seems like there is some truth to it ! If I was you I'd wait a few days for the diazepam to come out of your system totally and then test.

Njm2020 · 16/04/2021 12:12

Thank you, it’s been 3 days already and I haven’t taken any xx

I think your pregnant.
I'm another pcos (shocked mum).
First was a clomjd baby, (5years of ttc), 2 nd and third metformin babies 1 year of ttc, tracking, making sure we had sex the right day legs in the air 😂.
We were finished with our lovely 3, 5 years after my last, using contraception (condoms), hardly having time for any 😂, well baby 4 came along. Actually convinced myself I had cancer and that's why I was testing positive as that would make even more sense. To scared to go for a early scan 🤦🏼‍♀️. Still can't believe it after going through so much. Lol.

This would be my fourth, won’t lie I’m absolutely breaking it. I’m almost sure it’s the diazepam but I can’t be 100%.
My doctor is ringing at 5 so hopefully she’ll be able to explain things to me xx

What did doc say?

Skymum82 · 17/04/2021 14:32

?

Lou98 · 17/04/2021 14:45

I would think that at this point the diazepam would be out your system enough to not affect a test. If they're still showing positive I'd say it's highly likely you are pregnant!

The 2-3 weeks on the indicator would match with the app saying 4 weeks as the app will go from your last period but the weeks indicator takes it from ovulation so you do add 2 weeks to the test so that adds up!

Fingers crossed you get the result you want OP🤞

Hello ladies
Quick update
I am pregnant 6 weeks.
The doctor told me not to take anymore multivitamins and that she didn’t even know that diazepam can cause a false pregnancy test.
Thank you for all your advice xxx
