Hi guys I'm 23 weeks and pools are opening back up in Northern Ireland at the end of the month. I used to love swimming and now I want to swim again. Is it safe for baba and safe during pregnancy ?

Of course it is! There's no reason at all why you can't swim.

Yes! It’s especially brilliant when you get to the feeling-like-a-beached-whale stage. So relaxing to take the weight off your joints.

Of course, why wouldn't it be? It's recommended.

Are you thinking about covid risks or more general risks? Im 28weeks and asked my midwife about covid and swimming on Tues, especially as im now in the 3rd trimester. Ive missed swimming so much and am finding long walks uncomfortable so desperate to get back. She said it was absolutely fine. Im basically just going to minimise time in the changing room afterwards, put trackies on and head straight home to shower, rather than use pool facilities to reduce covid risks.

Unless you are suddently taking up arctic free diving, it should be fine. Is it a heated pool?

Why wouldn't it be?

Glad you asked this as I was unsure if was okay too. Not that I could think of a reason why but it's first pregnancy and want to make sure I'm clued up 😊

It's recommended in most sections on exercise when pregnant as it's easy-going on the joints etc.

My MW said to minimise time there outside the pool and distance from others but Covid aside yes totally fine.
