BFP after over two years of trying!!

First time poster here. I always thought to myself that once I finally got my bfp I would post to give others hope as I can admit to endlessly googling things in the 2+ years that we were ttc. Long story short in January 2019 we decided we were ready to try for our third child. Two and a bit years later I am now 39, DS is 9, DD 7 and I have just amazingly got my BFP for the first time. I have put it down to taking progesterone supplements as I realised I had a short luteal phase. It took ages to get referred to a fertility specialist a few months ago to get the pessaries and I feel so much time could have been saved if it hadn't all taken so long! So anyway, I don't know what's going to happen from now, or if it will stick (praying it will) but for now I am 39 and pregnant with a big age gap, a bit nervous and worried but over the moon. Is there anyone else in a similar situation?!

Thank you Smile I am definitely in shock as had almost given up on the idea of it ever happening! I'm also a bit nervous about the fact that I will be 40 when he or she arrives and will be an old mum after being a relatively young mum for so long but I don't feel old so I guess that's the main thing! Congratulations on being pregnant with your first, when are you due?

Congratulations!! We got our BFP in December on cycle 24. We were just about to start my second IVF round when it happened. I had honestly given up of it ever happening. So happy for you x

burtle4 · 13/04/2021 10:20

@rosieposy89 Ahhh, thank you, congrats to you too! Having already been pregnant 3 times (one ended in mmc at 13 weeks) I never expected to be labelled as infertile, I just couldn't understand it and it's been a very long journey. You must be so excited, is it your first?

Congrats!
My partner and I were trying for 18 months (with 4 miscarriages along the way), before falling pregnant. I’m now 17 weeks and age 38 so will be 39 when baby arrives.
I also have a big age gap between this baby and my 3 other children. I have a 10 year old, 9 year old and 6 year old (all from my previous relationship).
I was prescribed progesterone from 5 weeks until 16 weeks and took aspirin daily from ovulation which I’m still taking now.
So far so good.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!!

Aww @burtle4 this is great! Huge congratulations, and thank you for being so thoughtful in giving us a good news story. It really does help and give me hope that we will get our BFP one day too. Wishing you all the best for the months ahead. x

burtle4 · 13/04/2021 10:51

@TTCat39 Thank you! Trawling success stories on mumsnet was one thing that kept me going when it all felt like it was just too much. I also learned so much about my cycle and the whole TTC process that I feel like I could write a book Grin Good luck in your journey, I hope it's not too long for you, just don't give up x
