Restaurants - 3rd trimester and COVID

After some advice from those who have already had kids, and those who will also be in 3rd trimester as restrictions lift and restaurants open.

I've been invited to a variety of social events at the point that I'll be between 30-37 weeks, and can't decide how much hesitancy I should have about going. I'm thinking about 1) Am I generally going to be uncomfortable going to restaurants/ being out and about when I get even bigger? 2) Should I be being particularly cautious about e.g. indoor restaurants, given COVID?

I would myself now. But in saying that, if you are vaccinated and a lot of others are it won’t be as risky. The problem is I guess you just won’t know with other diners. I’m high risk outside of pregnancy so my perspective will be a bit more wary than most, but my doctor had said she herself won’t be doing indoor dining for a while yet and she has been vaccinated, for the same reason I said for me at the start of the post. I will be happy to do outdoor things for sure though and I’m confident it won’t be for long as more get the jab! You just have to weigh up the risks and benefits for you personally but I don’t think anyone would judge you for being careful if you are worried!

Oh and regards the comfort thing, it won’t be a problem unless you have other issues I wouldn’t think, I’m 33 weeks now and pretty big and I would love a restaurant Sunday lunch! But on my first I had a lot more discomfort with pain and walking so it just depends on you at the time!!!

I think this is a really individual decision and there is no right or wrong.

Re point 1) I’m 35 weeks and would be comfortable going out socialising etc (did in previous pregnancy).

But re point 2) I’m currently working from home in an adapted role due to the impossibility of social distancing in my work place and the increased risks in the third trimester. So I feel it would be taking the Micky to then be socialising in risky situations, plus personally it’s not worth the risk to me. Happy to meet friends outdoors though and visit outdoor attractions.

It’s a tricky time to be pregnant because restrictions are easing but this is because all (or most of) the other vulnerable groups have been vaccinated.

I agree that it’s an individual decision. Personally I think I will avoid it as I just don’t think I’d feel comfortable- not just with covid but with being quite big. Im normally healthy but have felt a strain on breathing sometimes what with everything getting squashed so I try hard not to get covid.

Personally I'm still not sure about outdoor restaurants either - partly because I know I'd need the toilet and not sure how I feel about shared facilities! Generally happy to meet friends outdoors and I think I would go to an outdoor restaurant / bar if I wasn't there long and it was close to home.

Personally I would not go to restaurants indoor or out and I would not go to any events with large numbers of people.

As others have said, it’s a very personal decision. Myself, I cannot wait for them to open. I’m 3rd trimester and I will be dining inside or outside at every given opportunity. I’m due 10 days after indoor dining is permitted and I’m already booked in several places so I can have some normality before baby arrives.

I would go out with little hesitation.
Was comfortable physically going out heavily pregnant with our others. We went to restaurants when we were able last year without issue and did lots of outdoor stuff too.
