Hi Smile
So I hope I have reached the right place as I’m new to this
I wanted some advice on a 4th c-section have any of you had 4 and how did it go
My last csection my 3rd one went well although at the end the surgeon did say that was a difficult one so bear in mind if you go onto have another but wasn’t in the right frame of mind to be asking why etc I would love number 4 to complete my family it has been 12 months since my last one
So any advice ?
Or could anybody point me in the right direction would a chat to the doctor help or an arranged cal with a midwife Confused
Thanks Grin

I'd say call local midwives or something, it was probably difficult due to a build up of scar tissue from the previous sections, or the uterus being fragile from them.

Scar tissue is the most common cause of problems with repeat cs. 4 is quite a lot and I don't think many women have had so many. I would imagine they will try to discourage you from ttc again but if you are already pregnant then you could discuss all your concerns with a consultant around 16wk.

We are not trying as of yet I want to get all the right information etc before planning anything
4 would be nice but if it’s to much of a risk I’d rather not put myself in that position we are more than happy with the 3 just would of liked one more I was thinking did the surgeon say it was so difficult because build of scar tissue I’ll maybe try calling my doctors to request a call with midwife thanks for your reply’s Smile

Hi,

I’ve had 3 c sections and currently 17 weeks pregnant with number 4 who will also be delivered via section.

I remember the surgeon saying similar to me while in theatre after my 3rd. It had taken them longer to get to baby due to scar tissue etc and they just had to take their time more and he brought a second person in to assist.

I was told a fourth would be tricky but doable.

I hadn’t planned at the time to have anymore, and actually went onto have a tummy tuck to get rid of my pouch.

At that surgery they took away a lot of old scar tissue and tidied everything up.

I then split from my husband and have now been with a new partner for a few years who is younger and has no children of his own.

So my plans changed and here we are pregnant.during our 18 months ttc we had some issues with miscarriages and were seen by a fertility consultant, one of the checks I had was a scan on my uterus etc to check for any issues.

One of the things pointed out to me was that my scar looked great internally and shouldn’t be the cause of any issues.

I’ve not yet seen my consultant this pregnancy but happy to update once I have.

Good luck.

One of my friends has had 6 c sections, all non eventful straightforward surgeries.

X

Just to add it’s now been 6.5 years since my last section and my midwife said if I wanted to try a Vbac that would likely now be an option for me due to the length of time between sections.

Great Thankyou for your reply I have known of a couple of people who have had more than 4 as-well they was fine It was just that bit what the surgeon said to me really knocked me back I did leave it 5 years aswell between 2&3rd section
