Sensor matt monitors and Natures Nests......

I'm sure MrsMcJnr asked this same question recently but I can't find it on a search!

Does anyone know if you can use baby monitors with sensor matts in an Amby Natures Nest?

Thank you!

Feedmenow, sorry I have no advice on this but just wanted to ask you about the Nest. Hadn't heard of it before your post and have just 'googled' it and am really impressed with what I found. Do you know someone who has actually used it or are you just going to try yourself? Having 2 other children who were pretty rotten (ranging to absolutely awful!!) sleepers I am really tempted to give this a go. Would love to hear what gave you the idea to go for this. Also, where did you buy yours from. Just had a look on ebay and they go for about half the retail price, even less if you want second hand. I would prefer brand new as you can't share mattresses etc but maybe I could buy a new mattress, etc, from a retailer. Anyway, would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Janus, I don't actually have one yet.

Desperately want one (I too have had 2 crappy sleepers!)but if I can't use a sensor monitor in it then I'm going to really struggle deciding what is more important to me!

I've been checking them out on ebay and know what you mean. But quite often, by the time you buy it, collect it and then get a new mattress it probably works out the same as buying new anyway. Although there was someone on MNet recently who got a brand new one from ebay for £84!

Please, please, please is there anyone around who knows the answer to my question?????

why do you need a sensor mat?

feedmenow · 12/11/2007 13:56

Highlander, I don't need one, I'm just quite a worrier and think I will feel a lot calmer if I have a monitor that has a movement sensor in it.

i have an amby and no you cant.

they are FAB btw. DS loves his (9 weeks old) and with the frequency i visit my mum, it collapses in 2 mins and is very portable.

movement sensors cause more stress than they're worth imo. They go off because they aren't attached properly or baby has moved off of it... waking baby up... your heart starts racing as you run in the room... etc..

(Of course in hospitals, and at home for babies with apnoea/respiratory problems yes, they're a great invention.)

feedmenow · 12/11/2007 16:31

Dal21, thank you for the definitive answer! Seeing as you have one, do you also happen to know whether or not you can put baby in a grobag in a Natures Nest?

E14, I've heard other people say that too! But I feel like I would be better with 30seconds worth of panic for a "connection" problem than worrying constantly every time I put the baby down to slepp, IYSWIM! But from what Dal21 says, I won't be able to use one anyway!!

This is why I love Mumsnet! I was just wondering this at the weekend, logged on, and there it was -- a thread already dealing with both question and answer.

I did use a movement sensor with DS and never had a false alarm until he was about 9 or 10 months old. I think it made me feel a lot more secure, however illusory that security may have been.

Hmmm... [torn between Amby and monitor emoticon].

feedmenow, thanks for the reply and I sympathise with the 2 crappy sleepers!! Did you use a sensor mattress with the other 2? My friend has one and in the confusion of constant night feeds, breastfeeding so she has to do them all, she often forgot to turn the alarm off when took baby out to feed and set the damn thing off, or forgot to turn it back on again when she put the baby back!! I so remember constantly forgetting which boob I last fed with and so know I would be the plonker who would keep setting off the alarm or forget to turn it back on! PS I saw a new one on ebay for £74, was sorely tempted!
