Hi, I have pelvic girdle pain and just wondered whether anyone has had experiences with manual therapy or physio in general to help with this? Struggling with mobility and pain.

Yes, manual treatment is the most effective thing for me and is what's recommended by the pelvic partnership. It's really hard to get access to though unless you go private. Heat, baths and TENS machine are also helpful.

I have this too, I went to physio which helped and they gave me acupuncture in the area it was sore and massaged it. I have days were its okay and days were its unbearable!

Hope you get something that helps

Hello OP,
I had bad pains during my second pregnancy through the first lockdown and I went for mommy MOT. It was online physio consultations dur to COVID, I was given lots of tips and information on exercises for SPD. It did help me, especially the birthing ball, really took the aches away. Perhaps now with lockdown lifting it will be back to F2F appointments. I did initially consider manual therapy but the exercises helped so much that I didn't need it anymore.

Two words - acupressure mat. Has been a lifesaver for me.

I've had it for weeks, I've been given a support belt and pregnancy tubigrip from the physio at my hospital which has helped along with exercises which I've been doing incuding yoga ☺️

Sorry to be negative but I saw the women’s physio weekly, had acupuncture, hydrotherapy, had the support bands and exercises and I found nothing helped....I was on crutches though by 30 weeks so I think I was a pretty bad case. Having the baby out of me helped 😂

I had this, and then during birth, they put me in stirrups!!!!!! I could barely walk for days afterwards and had to crawl up the stairs on my hands and knees crying. Please make sure your midwife is aware and make sure they don't put you in stirrups! Confused

Anonymum30 · 14/04/2021 20:20

Thanks, yeah I was in stirrups for my last labour so am wondering if that's why my pain is worse in this pregnancy, wish I'd known more about PGP last time but I kind of just muddled along. This time I have a toddler to take care of and am trying everything! Appreciate all your responses, thanks!

I’m nearly 34 weeks and the pain is unbearable sometimes. Got a telephone physio appointment on Tuesday but already doing the ball exercises, pillow between legs, got a bump band.

Was doing prenatal yoga everyday but find it too painful now so had to stop. Can’t walk very far, sleeping is awful, rolling over in bed is agony as is sitting on the sofa as it’s too soft.

No fun, but be worth it.

ElysiumFeels · 15/04/2021 07:42

The band might help bind everything together more. Sorry for you, it's awful x

I only got physio after the birth. One session, she did something and it was fixed. I also went to post natal pilates and one exercise really helped it (can't remember it though)
