I’ve booked a private scan and regretting it, DH still wants to go but I’m filled with anxiety.

Have no idea why, this will be DC3, never had complications in any other pregnancy and never had bleeding.

I just felt compelled to book it this time round but now I’m panicking we won’t see anything, I have to go in by myself too because of covid and I’m worried sick I’ll see no HB Sad

What should I expect at such an early scan?

It is quite early, and you may not see anything, depends how sure of your dates you are. I had early scans at 5.5 and 7.5 weeks for health reasons (when actually after my dating scans transpires was 6 and 8 weeks). First scan the sonograoher saw a yolk sac and nothing else. Second scan they saw embryo and heartbeat. On both scans I saw white noise. Hope the scan goes well though Smile

There's a very good chance that what you will see i.e. not alot will worry you. 8 weeks is the very earliest I'd recommend a private scan.

Private scans are not a good idea before 8wk, there is a good chance there will be very little seen at your stage as dates can be out. If they will allow it I would get them to move the date back a bit.

Thank you! I’ve cancelled. I just had a bad feeling and I know it will add unnecessary stress. I’ll definitely rebook for a later date. Thanks again!

@Bythefire90 Hey, did you ever rebook or get a scan?

Worriesome · 05/05/2021 15:53

I had 3 miscarriages prior to this pregnancy and wanted to book an early scan for reassurance but most places wouldn’t see me until 8 weeks which is when I was getting one from the NHS due to my history. I think the reason they say 8 weeks is there’s more certainty about what can be seen. Not to say things can’t progress normally if something isn’t seen at 6ish weeks. It just takes the guesswork out if you go a bit later, every day makes a huge difference. Would you change it to the 7 and a half week mark even x
