Hi everyone, I'm new to this. So I'm 16+5 and yesterday I found out that I'm rhesus negative, wasn't too worried because I know I just have to have anti D injections around 28 wks and all should be fine, however i had a termination 14 years ago and really don't remember having an anti D injection. I'm now really worried that it could affect this pregnancy if my body has already started making antibodies. Does anyone know much about this? Thanks x

What stage of pregnancy were you at when you had a termination? That would have determined whether you needed anti-d. Also you will get your blood tested for antibodies anyway

They will have done the injection without you having realised I expect, it was standard to give one even thirty years ago.

OK, Thankyou. They definalty didn't give me an injection without me knowing, it was a medical termination so was awake the whole time, I don't think I was more than 12 weeks, it was a long time ago

Don't think you would have got anti d if you were under 12 weeks. As I said you will get tested for antibodies anyway

You won't have got anti-D if less than 12 weeks. It's required from when the placenta starts to function (12 weeks on).

I'm rhesus negative so have dealt with the issue in my pregnancies.

But I'd suggest raising it with your midwife / doctor for further reassurance.

Congratulations & good luck with your pregnancy 💐

I had anti-d at 9/10 weeks so practice must have changed at some point.

If they are unsure of dates at time of m/c, they will administer it.

It's not required if there has been no possibility of blood exchange - which can't happen before placenta takes over.

Equally, during p/g, if you have a fall or car accident, for example, it will be given, on the off-chance you might have had a small bleed so blood exchange could happen.

Don’t worry, if before 12 weeks you would t have needed it.
