I am 5 weeks pregnant and have a serious nut allergy. Now if i had a reaction causing breathing difficulties etc i would use ny epi-pen as i'm not much good dead but....when i have a milder or start of one i used to take piriton but cannot take during pregnancy. Had moderate reation on fri and scared myself silly, are there any anti-histamines that are safe? Would only take if i felt my reaction was geting severe. Can't see G.P till next week and pharmacy was not very helpful!

By the way have avoided nuts but think it was to a cream used on one of the babies i care for, as started after i changed his nappy.

Piriton and Benadryl (normal, not plus) are both generally safe in pregnancy.

You want to avoid cetirizine hydrochloride and loratadine.

I believe that Piriton is the oldest and the safest. You could always speak to midwives or NHS Direct to get more info before GP appointment.

No idea, but I would suggest posting this same thread again under the allergies topic.

Perhaps someone there can offer more advice.
