Working during covid

I work as a support worker (I work in the homes of adults with learning disabilities) and I am currently 22 weeks pregnant. I am unsure as to whether I should be asking to be put into a role at work where I have no contact with others or on paid leave from my 28th week given the current pandemic.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation or know how to speak to work about it? They've already moved my role so its less physically demanding. They have only had one other pregnant worker that I know of since covid but she was a manager and they're all mostly home working anyway.

I am starting to feel uncomfortable and anxious at work even with PPE and being tested 3 times weekly. I have also had multiple colleagues catch covid or have to isolate due to exposure at work.

Hi I'm a nurse for a private company. My role is more managerial now but I have just been furloughed at 28 weeks as I can't socially distance at all times. I also caught Covid from work at 12 weeks. I would speak to your hr department because you are obviously unable to socially distance from your clients

Would that be furlough as in the 80% paid by the government or with your employer topping it up to your full wage?

I'm a veterinary nurse in a large hospital of 100 staff. My midwife wrote to my employer to say that they need to accommodate me working from home from 28weeks, if they couldn't I need to be off on full pay until maternity leave. I believe current gov guidance advise this. Speak to your midwife for sure

This is a snippet of the email :
I can confirm that in accordance with the recommendation from the RCoG and NICE Guidelines 19/2/21 Version 13-19 the advice is that any pregnancy woman over 28 weeks' gestation should be allowed to work from home.

These recommendations are due to the fact you would be at greater risk of severe infection if you contracted Covid-19; the RCoG document advises that pregnancy women are 'clinically vulnerable'.

Good luck!

For me it's full pay. I don't know if it differs with different companies.

A&E nurse here, I've been off since October on full pay working from home. My trust contacted today to say the guidance is changing very soon with the 28 week rule, and so women will be working right up until maternity leave again as normal in near future. Keep an eye on RCOG for any updates soon

Brandy2021 · 08/04/2021 19:39

Ohh does that mean if you're off already you will have to go back? My working from home starts on the 18th!

Possibly, you will still continue to work from home until the guidance changes and your workplace receives an update

Lots of posts regarding this on the pregnant teachers thread. Following with interest to see when advice from RCOG is likely to change.
