Did you take your own baby milk into hospital?

In my first pregnancy it never crossed my mind to take my own baby milk. The hospital provided cow and gate, which my daughter would not drink so I breast feed her while I was in there instead. This time around I am thinking of taking my own Aptimal in, the ones that are ready to drink.
Did anyone else do the same?

I'm in the same boat. I've packed the ready made cow and gate bottles in my hospital bag as my midwife said they don't provide formula if you want to formula feed, only for people who want to breastfeed but can't.

Maybe you could breastfeed just while in hospital. The colostrum you produce before your milk comes in is packed full of the absolute best your body can give. It has antibodies and is very rich and will give baby a huge boost. Obviously if long term breastfeeding is not for you that's entirely your choice but if you were able to be dc1 in hospital it may be a consideration for you? It's been a long time since I was in hospital but I do recall seeing another mum had brought in single serving formula bottles for her little one so I don't think it's a problem if you take in your own. Good luck on the birth of your second. Thanks

I took in the 70ml bottles with individually sealed teats for our twins. Our trust do not supply milk so you have to take it in, bf never worked out for our singletons so I was well prepared for the twins. Have already got some in ready for this little one too.

Took a couple of bottles and ready made Aptamil to hospital just in case we needed it.

I have a starter pack of aptamil in the car ready for when I'm induced in 2 weeks.
I'm hoping to combi feed this one but I couldn't breastfeed my DD at all so I want to be prepared.

Thank you for the loving message, its been a while for me too so not sure if it has all changed. But tbh I did like breast feeding in hospital it made me feel more connected to her. I think maybe I will do this again, the only reason I stopped when I got home was because of the sore nipples LoL

I didn’t take anything with DD1 but not being able to feed her long term and struggling to get her to latch when she was first born led to me taking formula in for DD2 in case I couldn’t feed her either. I could initially even though I had to stop soon after.

I took sterilised bottles and ready made bottles of Hipp formula.

For my two I was provided with formula, they had SMA and Cow and Gate and I used Cow and Gate as that’s what I wanted to start baby on anyway x

With mine, we have to take the starter packs.

They don't have facilities to be making bottles for everyone so they ask you to bring the starter packs in

Our local hospitals will provide formula if you want to breastfeed but can't - if your plan is to breastfeed you could try checking your hospital website? If you don't want to breastfeed then take in some formula so you can continue on the same brand etc you want to use when home Smile

Good idea! I didn't think to check there, I don't mind breast feeding but want to take milk just incase it do not work out this time.

If you intend to bottle feed my local hospital will not provide formula. If you are breastfeeding and need to top up with formula they will provide so worth checking
