I am due to have a C-section on the 20th April and I am really nervous. I have had one before and the experiences was not great that why I think I have so many nerves. I am due in hospital next week for steroids and been told my a family member that they 'hurt like hell' and have to take my sugar levels every hour plus do covid tests every 12. The lack of positivity from her filled me with more worries. I have to do a covid test 3 days before the operation and if it is positive my partner is not allowed to be their- I am hoping is does not come to this because to be honest I am not sure how I will cope with this mentally.

I am looking for birth stories from anyone who has had a C-section with gestational diabetes throughout the covid
What was your experience like?
Did you get support in hospital?
how long was your stay?
how did your partner feel only been allowed an hour a day?
how many Covid tests did you have to do?

Anything you could share would be great :)

Mine wasn't through covid but it was with GD and it was a fairly standard procedure. I had to hand over my insulin and equipment when I was admitted and the nurses checked my blood sugars and recorded them for me and sorted my medication. Stayed the standard two days after the section, only difference really was that my baby needed an x Ray when he was born as he had too much fluid around him because of the diabetes so they wanted to check his swallow (that was all fine) they have to check babies blood sugars too and that's a prick on the foot, they check 4 times before giving them the all clear. Also they gave him a bottle as soon as he came out to raise his blood sugar so if you're intent on breastfeeding you might want to talk to them about expressing some colostrum or something.
