Anterior placenta and C-Section

Hi,

I've had my 20 week scan and I have an anterior placenta, it's very low and just short of being classed as placenta Previa. They said it's very close to my cervix but it's not covering it.

I've felt baby move quite a lot, I thought I wouldn't but I'm over the moon that I can feel him.

I'm having a C-Section due to complications from my first pregnancy and it's likely the same complications will arise this time.

Does the anterior placenta affect this? I haven't met with the consultant yet?

Also, does the back pain get any easier? I'm much bigger at this point than I thought I would be and my back is truly killing me mostly when I lie down so sleeping is a nightmare or when I move from sitting to standing.

Any advice is greatly appreciated xx

Hey there,
I have exactly the same as you, I have not thought about an anterior placenta effecting the C-section I might ask this tomorrow at my appointment.
The back ache does it easier my little boy was laid all in my back with his head in my cervix. sleeping and getting up from sitting was unbearable. somedays I couldn't walk. I found some relief with a pregnancy support band, hot baths or as advised by my midwife a water bottle. Also a pillow between your legs at night helps relief the pain and it did worked for me. The back pain has gone now but now I am struggling to walk due to SPD so have to keep my journeys short or I will suffer for days.
Hope my tips help, hang in there, I know it is frustrating but hopefully it will not last much longer. :)

They will give it until 36 weeks to move before worrying. One of our twins was covering the cervix at 20wk but had moved enough by 32 weeks. It can move down but this is quite rare. I wouldn't stress about it unless it doesn't move at you next scan(s). They will discuss alternative surgery if needed later on.

I have an anterior and not got any more back ache than other pregnancies at this stage. You could try bump supports or pregnancy pillows to help ease it. I've never used them (not even with twins) so can't recommend any.

I had a c-section with an anterior placenta, it wasn’t ever mentioned by the consultant and didn’t seem to be a factor.

I believe the only thing with an anterior placenta is that there's a higher chance of Pph because obviously there's a higher chance of cutting the placenta.
They will obviously know the be wary though and do it so often

I had a weird, multi-lobed, anterior placenta. Apparently not an issue for them at all, as long as they know about it beforehand. I lost 200mls blood, which is fuck all.

They can do all sorts via c section, even extract babies that have started to make their way down the birth canal. Mad when you think about it.
