Late pregnancy cavity

Since the autumn, so early pregnancy, I've had some discomfort in one of my back teeth. The tooth is right next to an impacted wisdom tooth, and really hard to clean. I suspected it might be decayed and so I've tried and failed to see an NHS dentist for months, but have always been dismissed, because my pain is not extreme and they can only treat genuine emergencies at the moment.

Having finally seen a private dentist (so expensive 😭) at 30 weeks, they told me that yes, the tooth does have decay, and the wisdom tooth will need removing too, as it will only cause more issues. BUT they won't do anything until after I've given birth.

It's playing on my mind that the tooth is going to have to keep rotting away for months, by which time it will undoubtedly be worse, especially as it's clearly been dodgy since the autumn, or maybe even longer. I am cleaning it with every interdental brush known to man- is there anything else I can or should be doing? I feel like I'm going to have to say no to easter eggs to assuage my guilt, as the more I google tooth decay, the more scary phrases like "root canal" come up.
