Bladder pain third trimester

Hi all

I am 31 weeks pregnant with first baby. Two weeks ago i had a UTI (confirmed on culture) and completed antibiotics. However the urinary urgency has not improved. A repeat culture a few days after completing antibiotics shows there is now no UTI/ bacteria and the GP thinks it is just baby position/ compression

I have urinary urgency day and night; it feels like I am constantly bursting for the toilet! I am going at least every 2 hours day and night. It isn’t eased by going to the toilet- in fact I immediately feel like I need to go again! Worse on sitting/ standing/ moving around. Nothing seems to ease it other than lying on my side; I have tried pregnancy belt, paracetamol, head down potion/ pelvic tilts to try move baby off. It doesn’t hurt to pass urine like it would with a UTI but there is unbearable pain from the urgency as the day goes on, and in the evenings I’m often in tears with discomfort

Has anyone else experienced bladder pain that isn’t due to UTI during pregnancy?

Any tips on how to ease this and be more comfortable?

Thank you in advance

Perhaps ask to make sure you aren't retaining urine, I had complete urine retention through both of my pregnancies and whilst its really rare it might not worth an ask from your midwife.

I've had this since around 30 weeks. I get up hourly during the night.
It's all baby's position and your uterus pressing on your bladder.

When you go to the toilet, sit there for a while and move into different positions.
So pee normally, then sit as upright as possible, try and pee some more, then lean forward, lean back ect.
Sometimes I sit there for at least 5 minutes making sure I've got as much out as I can

@FrostyBear1 This exact same thing happened to me last week - Sunday started getting bad UTI symptoms, went GP Monday and confirmed UTI, so started a three day course of antibiotics. Thursday I was still getting the same symptoms, so went back to the GP and dip test confirmed no UTI. Since then I've had the symptoms come and go - I didn't get any stinging with the UTI, just bladder pressure and needing to go desperately. I'm still having the same. I've also noticed when I'm getting the bladder pressure I really struggle to pee - I have to push really hard and my urine stream is so weak. Conclusion is it's the position of baby squishing my bladder, making it hard to get urine out and a horrible feeling of pressure.

I've realised that when this is happening if I lean forward when I pee and lift myself up a bit that takes the pressure off. Think I got the UTI because of not being able to empty my bladder when baby was in a certain position.

I'm only 22 weeks though! I've been having the random pressure and struggling to pee on and off for quite a while now but it's ramped up in the last few weeks x

Oh I also stand up at the end of going to the loo and try to go again in a slightly squatted position, and I can always get more out. I think the gravity helps! Am trying my best to make sure I'm emptying my bladder properly, as when you're not that can cause UTIs x
